I live in a housing complex. We all live a stone's throw from each other. A young couple moved in a while back. They were never the best neighbours (they would have loud conversations in the car park with their dipshit friends at 2am on week nights, for instance), but things were basically okay.

Then they got a dog.

The animal hasn't been trained, and its barking stresses everyone the fuck out. We had to jump through a million legal hoops to get it to shut up. But since this couple can only hold a thought in their heads for a few seconds at a time they need constant reminders that the dog is barking again and people find this distressing.

There is major tension between the residents now. Words have been exchanged. We are on a collision course.

How am I supposed to enjoy the cricket and soccer world cups with this volatile atmosphere?

We are not fine. There is no peace here.

Same situation here. My neighbors leave their two huge dogs in their yard for 90 percent of the day and they Never. Shut. Up. As if that weren't enough, they have a cat who occasionally parks itself on my porch and then hisses when I come out. When I moved in it was two huskies. Now it's two different dogs (old ones died I guess) and they do the exact same thing. Whenever the owners are in the yard they just yell "Shut up!" Over and over again. No wonder the dogs are barking, their owners are assholes.

My heart goes out to you. Stay strong.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Do you have any plans to rectify the situation?

BTW, this was meant to be in offtopic, mods.

I'm not the landlord where I live and I have very poor verbal communication skills, so not really. Besides, what would I say to them? "Your dogs bark too much, please get rid of them?" I don't think that would fly very well. I just kinda live with it, same as the rest of my life. I am schizoaffective / OCD so I have much bigger things to worry about than the dogs which are honestly a small annoyance in comparison. Thanks for asking, though.

That must be tiring. Having to deal with unwanted noise really can be awful. I hope that you find relief from the situation.
