  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

So why not? Why can't the choice to end my life with dignity be my choice? Body autonomy, right? But even without governmental help, why isn't there a way to do this peacefully, and to explain to my loved ones that it's more selfish of them to make me stay "here" as long as it doesn't hurt them, even if it destroys me day in and day out?

Can I or should I be able to kill myself peacefully? I think I should be able to. I'm not convinced that I can- with what's legally available. It's going to be part planning, part luck as to how much I will suffer.

They don't want to make peaceful means readily available because I suspect fear of pain or the attempt failing resulting in more pain is what puts a lot of people off. Sadly, I'm not sure our leaders or the wider public will ever accept that some people truly want out. They may just about conceed if your life is full of physical pain and perhaps one day- mental pain. Still- they'll want to pump you full of drugs and therapy first...

I think killing yourself peacefully is extremely rare, in most cases you need a spark of anger to commit suicide. Even if you have lined peaceful method like N taking, it is extremely hard. If there is any hope left in you will need anger to override it.

I find it to be insane how the world that we exist in makes suicide as difficult as possible for us, it's extreme cruelty to force people to exist in this world and then deny them peaceful ways to exit meaning that they have to suffer so much in freeing themselves from an existence not worth enduring. There is nothing so valuable and beneficial about existing to justify making suicide so difficult as all that life is, is just a consequence of evolution and it's a cycle of meaningless and insignificant suffering that will continue to repeat as long as life is brought here.

But yet delusional people attach so much value and glorify something so useless as life, and suicide represents what they fear which is someone voluntarily preferring death to life. I do believe that many people glorify life as after all this existence is all that they know and deep down they fear our inevitable fate. But the disgusting thing is when they push these life valuing views onto others and place emphasis on prolonging torment, and because of the way that suicide is treated in society so much unnecessary torture will inevitably be experienced and that is tragic. I absolutely despise the fact that suicide is this difficult, as the truth is that there is simply no benefit to endlessly suffering and then just deteriorating just to die anyway. There are no disadvantages to being dead after all and it's what's inevitable for us after all so why should we have to struggle so much to get there. Death is the most normal and expected thing and that is undeniable.

Humans themselves are selfish and egotistical and only care about what's best for them, even at the expense of others. Furthermore, from an economical and power perspective, the government doesn't want it's citizens to leave the world peacefully in droves for fear of loss of revenue, profitability, and control.

Can I or should I be able to kill myself peacefully? I think I should be able to. I'm not convinced that I can- with what's legally available. It's going to be part planning, part luck as to how much I will suffer.

That pretty much sums it up pretty well. Also, regarding the postponement of Canada's MAID expansion towards those whose sole underlying medication condition is a psychological one, it wouldn't surprise me if there is still much contention before any more progress is made in the coming year(s).

Similarly, having pure despair (in my opinion) could do the same too. Have something so despairing that it just snuffs out even the last bit of hope that it spurs one to act.

There are no disadvantages to being dead after all and it's what's inevitable for us after all so why should we have to struggle so much to get there. Death is the most normal and expected thing and that is undeniable.
Exactly and I'd like to think of death as a neutral state since there could be no gain nor loss (for the individual) once said person is dead. It's basically "the end".
