How did I get here?

I live in a seaside town right next to the ocean, and basically everywhere you go there's a vast view of the sea. You would think that I'd always admire the gorgeous views, right? Well no. Everything to me is just really boring. I find no enjoyment from anything anymore.

I was in Scotland a few weeks ago because my family wanted me up there for new years. We did quite a lot but all of it just blended into eachother and felt like nothing. It's been like this for years, where the only time I feel enjoyment is temporary small boosts of dopamine from dumb shit like Youtube.

I'm so blase to literally everything. I can't remember the last time being outside has netted any kind of reaction other than apathy. I see videos on NicoNico of gorgeous japanese waterfalls, and I wish that I could be there. Yet, I know for a fact that if I was there, I'd just be bored out of my mind.

What can I do that would make me feel something? Anything?
I just want to look at something and say "Damn, that's beautiful." But that's been literally impossible for me for years.

I'm rather the same. I've lost interest in everything that used to amuse me. I suppose I perceive it as pointless. I also live in a uk coastal seaside town.

I understand the feeling. All the beauty I used to see in the world is gone. I don't have fun doing anything anymore. I was with friends for New Years and I was counting down the hours to go home. I don't laugh or smile anymore. Games aren't any fun, tv shows and movies are boring, doing anything feels monotonous. There's no enjoyment left in my life.

yes it is anhedonia most likely...i did not feel this way for the majority of life...i was very lucky...in my case i abused pot...unfortunately that led to a psychotic break and schizophrenia so i had to stop...luckily for me when i did the voices stopped in my case (yay!). but without pot i had insomnia/depression and yes anhedonia ugh...more than likely what you are describing as well. i suppose if you have not tried pot you can try smoking certain pot that makes you happy just be careful...such a depressing world. though i honestly don't know if it will work post anhedonia i never tried myself....

I've been suffering from anhedonia for the last 6 months. I've been doing activities with my daughters like going to the aquarium, museums, and eating out but absolutely nothing brings pleasure to me. It's impossible to find anything that engages my interest, so I end up laying in bed or on the couch just zoning out all day. Even music stopped bringing me pleasure, which is devastating because I always loved music and used it for emotional support.

There are therapies and medications that can help with anhedonia which might be worth looking into.

I feel the same. It's a symptom of depression.
