When I'm reading these forums or replying to a post, I often feel like this website is normal and the rest of society is totally mad. Does anyone else feel this way?

I mean, I can't talk about suicide in 'normal' society and even if I did people have such strong opinions against it that have been drilled into them from an early age that there is no way I could have a rational discussion about it.

But here it's like, okay, here's something that might be right or wrong depending on your situation, let's talk about it. And that rational discussion seems so much more normal than the knee-jerk anti-suicide you would get from most of society.

Ironic that a suicide forum should be an island of sanity in a mad society.

IKR? I couldn't even talk openly about it to a psychologist without being locked up in a ward, but here you can discuss and get the thoughts out of your head. Suicide advocates always tell us to talk it out, but they never tell you that they'll lock you up for talking about it. I've been silent for years and still feel anxious talking about suicide, but this forum has helped a lot.

Yes I feel the majority of the world doesn't recognize suffering to the extent that we do here—afterall most of us planning to ctb have suffered greatly so we see through the lies, the gross materialism, the superficial connections, the archaic rituals we created to create meaning where there is none. And most of all we are facing death squarely in the face which terrifies most people.

Guess you could say a lot of us are "woke".

I've found a lot of people (that I have spoken to in real life) don't know how to respond to topics about suicide, they get all funny about it.

It's not something they want to think about. They don't want to think about their mortality (that they are going to die one day). They would rather live in ignorance when it comes to the subject of death.

They tell us we're insane without thinking that it's society that causes us to be. Everyone is too indoctrinated and too caught in their daily lives to even begin to think about what it would be like to not be alive let alone killing themselves. They can't fathom about what it would be like if they had that option. It's literally goes against every life affirming ideology and biological functions we were forced fed to. We were institutionalized and indoctrinated. Life is a cult.

I feel the same way. SS has the most intelligent, sound of mind, down to earth, and understanding people that I ever met.

If you really wanna see "crazy" go on Facebook or some other popular social media site were the drama truly gets generated. I believe that the so called "sane" majority are the the ones that are truly insane. But since they are the majority they get to make up the rules for society. Just because it's popular dosent make it right.

I've seen so called friends come and go. But the most sound people I've ever met seem to be on here.

I can call you my real friends. The friends I never had. Thanks for providing such comfort in my most troubled times.

Yes, I always feel that way. It doesn't make sense to want to stick around in a world where pain outweighs pleasure so consistently, and to then go and discuss pointless minutia while I'm suffering daily. What do I give a fuck if Trump said this or sugar causes cancer? It's just small talk to me. White noise. I want out of this life.

In an ideal world the right to informed choice and provision for rational suicide would be available, in a manner that reduces traumatic experience for all concerned, with robust safeguards in place. Sadly we don't live in an ideal world.

Here seems to be home to an acceptance of others pain and the need to control your own fate when you can't control anything else. I am appreciative of the conversations I have been able to have here. The compassion I have seen on display is honestly beautiful.

Because after a while when people just keep saying to you, "You gotta keep fighting." I can only think why? Most reasons given are fantasy, faith based, or consist of trite saying that have no practical use. Or devolve into peering into a brighter future with a crystal ball they refuse to tell me the lottery numbers with!

The people here tragically are unified in the knowledge that a life lived in constant pain is not a life. If it can't be fixed, what is to be gained by surviving just to survive another day in pain? It is not something I can talk to people IRL. There are consequences, not just to me but to their emotions and the expected habit of me existing in periphery in their lives. Here makes me feel less alone in my pain. Here has been helpful at letting me vent, to just get it all out uncensored. There is so much cathartic value in that.

Perfectly stated! We are WOKE! Our suffering has forced us to become hyperaware of the nature of our existence in my opinion. When most people suffer or had a rough life, they still tend to be able to find comfort in happily ever after fairy tales and simple minded optimistic platitudes. People on SS seem to have a logical edge when it comes to assessing reality. We go against the grain. We tend to think outside the box and question what society has drilled into our heads. We left the herd and formed a new tribe!

Totally agree. At this point I feel suicide is the only actual control I will ever have in this helpless experiment we call life. I mean was there ever a true decision in our making for ourselves? We have no control, no expression to show how hurt we are on the inside.

This place gives me a lot of comfort that I'm not alone.

IRL everybody looks at me like I'm crazy and tells me I need to go to the hospital if I even mention Suicide in passing, Yet they expect me to want to "get better" and live for 50+ more years without even considering my situation.

I appreciate this forum because it makes me feel accepted and that I'm not crazy or delusional like every pro lifer tells me.

"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

Normality is overrated in such an upside-down world. It's to this forum's credit that we can share pro-suicide views without coming off like offensive dickheads.

Very well put ALL. This is in fact the only true/real-life board on the entire net. It should be called accordingly but I get we have to stick out name-wise to be found by those suffering under the mess of deception and ignorance.

Yes, this is our sanctuary place. We are able to be our true selves and have honest, rational discussions related to right-to-die, suicide, euthanasia, and death without the threat or fear of institutionalization, or other legal and social repercussions. No where else, not even reddit (after r/SS, r/TSS, r/FTG, and other subreddits are banned) has that safe space anymore. 99% of all other places are all pro-life, anti-suicide, pro-natalism, and delusionally optimistic that shun even 'rational' discussions of such topics. The world itself is one massive clusterfuck of insanity and selfishness.

Guess you could say a lot of us are "woke".

I like the use of that term, woke. It applies to a lot of other subjects and contexts and it certainly fits the situation here.

I agree. If you ask a question like " How do you use this method to kill yourself using this method" any other place, you'll get responses like "Don't kill yourself. Life is good...." Hello, I asked how, giving me a lecture about suicide being bad is not an answer to my question. Pro-lifers seriously need to learn how to read.

Completely agree, life to me has always felt like an insane asylum where the lunatics really are running the show.
If only the tables were turned and this forum was 99% of the population and the creepy pro lifers were the 1% hiding in the obscure corners of the internet never to be taken seriously.
