I just don't know what approach to take to better my life. Maybe I am just too old. I have tried my hardest and my life hasn't gotten better. I am seriously doubting that it ever will.

Life is not an easy challenge.

Do you have a clear picture of what a better life may look like? Could you take small steps - even though it may take 50 small steps - to reach that goal?

I don't have such a goal myself, so I'm not a good coach in this matter, but I believe that you need to start out with defining what you wnat to achieve - which you probably already have done - and then define steps to reach that goal. Also, you may need to identify reasons why you didn't succeed in reaching those goals, so that you may approach your goals from different perspectives later on, if you try again.

Normalcy is not important. Having a better life is important. Normies are less common than you think

There is no such thing as normal. Trying to achieve it is like chasing the heroin dragon. It's not possible to ever really catch it.

The best you can do is to achieve good enough. I don't know that good enough can be defined until you are there.

As for being too old, just how old are you? I'm in my fifties and feel like I'm finally in a better place. I didn't get married until almost 40. Life doesn't always happen the way we expect - some of us have to wait for the good part.

God, I don't blame you.

I saw what happened to me, and what was happening to me, and that I couldn't stop bad people from causing harm.

I saw what happened to my mother

It was a very ugly demise and a bad fate

So I get it, you know.

The "surrender", "defeat", "hands in the air, I give up"….

Yeah. Not a nice place to be mentally. Not a nice to be in general.

80% of people are fucked up in big, unreversable ways in modern western society.

So you have a chance to be 'normal' although 'normal' by modern standards is not normal.
