Non-prescription antiemetics for SN, dimenhydrinate vs diphenhydramine

I'm doing research for my SN protocol and I've been having trouble finding an antiemetic. I attempted to get a prescription for meto and that failed, so I'm looking for something that doesn't require a prescription. Even if it's not as effective as meto, it's better than nothing.

So that brings me to the drugs I mentioned in the title. I've heard some good things about dimenhydrinate (brand names Dramamine and Gravol):

• "the PPH mentions that if you can't get anti-emetics, you can settle for dimenhydrinate"
• "technically an antihistamine but has antiemetic properties"

But this comment is making me second-guess that drug's usefulness: Turns out dimenhydrinate is half diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and the other half is a stimulant that would cause problems during an SN suicide attempt.

So that's the point of this post: Would Benadryl be useful as an antiemetic to use with SN? It makes sense on paper, since Benadryl is basically just the useful part of an already-recommended drug, but I haven't seen any threads on here that talk about this (besides the last one I linked to above). Am I on the right track, or am I misunderstanding how these drugs work?

doesnt answer your question but is Metoclopramide (Reglan) what you refer to as "meto"? is that one considered the best out of all?

Yeah, meto refers to metoclopramide and it's definitely the go-to antiemetic for the SN method. The problem is that it's prescription only, and I've already tried and failed to get a prescription for it. (I pretended to have migraines and said that I have a friend with similar problems who recommended Reglan but my doctor prescribed me a different migraine medication that's useless for CTB :/) I'm also paranoid about my payments being tracked and want to buy something over the counter with cash, so that rules out online pharmacies. With all that in mind, that's why I'm looking into dimenhydrinate and diphenhydramine.

I can't help since I would have recommended the benadryl and a bunch of depressants that make you drowsy. You could give anti-histamines a try I heard some of them stop or can reduce nausea but maybe that's just the feeling. I have the same issue trying to get anti-emetics here, even though I do get headaches/migraines(?)/chest pain that hurt and make me feel sick I always just get told to take OTC painkillers :(

Nah I think that's still helpful, thank you. I'm probably gonna go with benadryl since it's an antihistamine and seems like the best I can get without a prescription. Also sorry to hear about your issues getting antiemetics, especially since it sounds like they would help with your pain

Test it on yourself. Take a high dose of Benadryl. Drink or eat something that is bound to make you nauseous. See what happens.

Please note that a really high dose of Benadryl will lead to delirium. Have you heard of the Hatman? When people take high doses of DPH they start to see, hear and feel things that aren't there. It's scary and you become paranoid. It can inhibit you from successfully CTBing.

Good idea, I think I'll try that. If I get the dosage wrong I'd much rather find out during a low-stakes test than during a suicide attempt. I'll be careful of course; I've heard of the hat man and I don't plan on meeting him :P

Do you know anybody that takes antipsychotics? They're terribly common. Maybe head over to a local pharmacy and ask for an 'emergency fill' of olanzapine.

I don't know anyone who does :/ I'll keep that in mind in case I learn that someone I know takes it though

Please validate this, but I could've sworn that I read in one of the SN megathreads that they suggested getting something from a pet supply company (saying it was the same stuff).

I just did some searching and found that meto is sold in quite a few online pharmacies for pets, although they all require a prescription from a vet. Thanks for the suggestion. I might try to get a prescription by claiming my cat has stomach problems or something, similar to what I attempted with my human doctor.

As someone else who is a recovering addict from dph , it honestly isn't the best for taking with sn at high dosages. You're likely to get extremely nauseous and extremely high on it

By "at high dosages" do you mean high dosages of DPH or high dosages of SN? Would you recommend taking a small amount of DPH with SN or leaving out DPH entirely?

A low dosage wouldnt sedate you at all , and chances are by the time the sn starts killing you the dph wouldn't be in effect.
