I wish there was a sorting hat community somewhere

To me; being mature matters and is valued.

This life I'm surrounded by relatives or acquaintances or where I've attempted work/volunteering where people are constantly talking rubbish… it's constant commentary about rubbish… theirs and what they perceive to be mine. They are so impatient with their nonsense narratives and become spiteful if you can't or won't keep up.

It's disgusting to observe someone openly working out how to get attention, how to get what they want and constantly sensationalising everything.

I'm late 30's and honestly don't think I want to make it to 40.

I can't place any event or activity to make my 40's appealing.

January sees my neighbours up in arms about roadworks that will effect everyone's parking; they keep talking to me about it (I don't drive) so I said 'not a clue but good luck and keep calm' one has said 'oh you don't have a car; so you don't care because it doesn't effect you; maybe a bed bug on your train is due' I was baffled a moment and the look on my face prompted her to panic then offer me 'only joking, your so lucky' she smiled smugly and I shrugged and walked off… as I processed it over a few minutes I'm guessing she was mean and then felt she recovered it with wit?

All I've done so far this year is get myself up, washed and dressed to go for a daily walk and that's the interaction as soon as I step outside!

same!!! i'm 21 & have realized, much to my dismay, that most ppl never grow past the whole gossipy/cliquey high schooler mentality. every place i've worked there's been some type of drama. & the things the majority of ppl care about, esp the 1s that're significantly older than me >_< it's incredibly disheartening & depressing. like that's what i have to look forward to? nothing & no one really changing in any meaningful way.

& im sorry that was the interaction u were met w after putting in the effort to go outside :// i haven't left my house in a month & a half.

Every workplace is a glorified high school 🥴 it is INSANE what grown ass adults say and do regarding their coworkers sometime. Just left a job because of this.

It kind of feels like we, as people, are destined to become like that or get eaten up by it

!!! it really does feel like that, just another reason why i'm eager to go, it's as if eventually everyone becomes like that to a point. & idk a single adult irl besides myself that's even aware of this, much less against it.

Totally relate to OP's story. Had almost the same exp myself, when after a few weeks hiding myself from the world today I left my house & made a phone call...

....1 hour later I stormed back into my house, vowing not to leave my house again for another month. The phone call was to the gov welfare benefit dept. It took them 1 hour to answer a simple ?. Frustration, doesn't even cover it.

Thank you… the mentality is so low!

It is disheartening… I coped in my 20's by climbing a bit career wise but even then it got a lil uglier unfortunately as politeness isn't valued much either.

It's not easy. Winter weather isn't helping; I really hate this season

I spent 1.5 hours waiting to cancel my internet package… I got disconnected and it closed! It's money I just don't have; I battle again tomorrow morning.

Today was not productive

Absolutely agree either this 'every workplace is just a glorified high school'. Absolutely bang on. Full of bully's and fakeness. I literally can't do it. Definitely part of the reason I want to leave this world. I can't bare being forced into that environment for most of my life.
