Hi all,
I attemped partial hanging by creating a makeshift noose from scarves and tying it to a horizontal clothing pole in a closet. I was unsucessful, mostly due to fear I think. I knelt down, put my head through the noose and tried to sink my weight in. As soon as I felt my neck pressing into the fabric, I couldn't yield my body further. The state of unconsciousness didn't come soon enough and...I just couldn't continue. As much as I was mentally and emotionally prepared, my body became sort of instinctively paralyzed. I suppose this is what you all are talking about when you mention survival instinct. If I can't do it knelling, I can't imagine trying to do it sitting partially or however other positions that supposedly work better. I'm super annoyed by this because aside from that I'm ready to go. I guess the purpose of this post is to ask for any suggestions for bypassing this issue if anyone has any. I don't have any access to prescription sedatives, not willing to get drunk, and I'm pretty broke with little money to spare. I apologize in advance for such a long winded post. I'm new here, and new to this method for ctb so please forgive me.

I did. I saw that someone had posted better positions to guarantee more success as I mentioned. However, I can't bring myself to do it because of potential pain/force that appears to be involved. It seems almost as though you have to fall into the damn noose lol and my body goes into panic at that point. But yes I guess I have read more on the hanging thread.

I don't know if a clothing pole will end up holding up like you need it to, I'm not really sure. I find the "throw it over the closet door and shut it" method to be very promising and anyone has access to this what do you call it, fulcrum? It shouldn't take long at all once you make the decision to go through with it, and if done in a certain way there really isn't much going back after like 10 seconds. I'm no expert on this but I have done a good amount of research... It doesn't sound like survival instinct to me, it sounds like you are not fully committed, decided or believing in this method yet. Maybe you need some more time to finalize your decision at which point it should be easy to get to the next position if this is really what you want to do.. take it one step at a time, make sure your method has the best chance of success, a failure can end up being hell.

3 to 5 seconds if you do it right and you'll be out like a light. 20-30 deceased. There is no pain.
No noose needed for over the door. Just a Slipknot will do.

Hmm, I mean, I'm pretty sure the pole can support my weight, I've tested it. It's also made from some sturdy steel/metal. I can assure you that I'm emotionally prepared etc it's just the fear of pain that my body is subconsciously aware of, and falsely percieves that stops me. Even if I feel finalized in my decision(which I am), this survival instinct is really difficult to get rid of regardless of how much closure anyone has with themselves. It's a biological function that seems to transcend and trump everthing else unless you can ctb fast enough or are under the influence of something. But I'll look into your suggestion of using a door. I'll have to use my room door rather, for I don't have a door for my closet LOL. Anyway I digress, thank you for taking the time to reply and for your suggestions. =)

Do you happen to know if I'll be able to have my lower body on the ground with this method you just mentioned? As in like sitting or kneeling completely.

No. You squat like your sitting in a chair or you kneel so that gravity takes over. You could stand and do it as well I'm sure. There is no pain in this.
You basically pass out and gravity does the rest and you hang yourself .you don't feel anything because if you do it right, you'll be out like a light very fast .anywhere from 3 to 15 seconds. But you aren't suffering that whole time. Your knocked out.

Cool thanks, really appreciate it. It's between this and sodium nitrite now. I'll have to do more research

This the big dilemma for me. I just can't seem to surrender to gravity and as crazy as it sounds, 3 to 15 seconds doesn't seem fast enough(I know that that's a ridiculous statement). It's like a trust fall but you don't trust the person who's supposed to catch you so yu just cant fall; idk if that makes sense, Maybe I'll have to look into another method. I'm pissed bc this process is taking way longer than it needs to.

SN = Sodium Nitrite, CTB = Catch the bus, aka suicide
Easy ways to die without becoming paralysed? Check the [resource] thread on all methods. Jumping will nearly 100% kill you if you jump from at least 100m above ground, 200m above water.

Maybe you should put the noose around your neck, take sleeping pills and wait until you fall asleep

No, I'm not going to make it more complicated than it needs to be. Don't worry, a couple of other posters provided me with more feasible options. Thanks tho.

I think your over complicating it. That's what I think. Partial hanging is one of the fastest non painful ways you can go out.

You have to be mentally ready to go out. It's not a quick moment of the spur idea .you really want this to happen for whatever reasons your having.
There's no coming back. Maybe in the next life we do.

Oh trust me. I'm sure I want to leave, I've had many attempts before. I'm emotionally/mentally prepared except for the mental block that causes me to falsely percieve physical pain. I'm 110% aware and ok with the fact that it's irrevisble.

Yeah with partial hanging you don't experience any pain. It happens really fast and you get knocked out. Gravity does the rest. It's just locating the right places to do it

Your not awake that whole time. Your out like a light super fast. Within seconds. Around the 5 second mark you should be out.
