I wish you, to all the lucky people, a good New Year's Eve, and good luck to all the people who are not so lucky, who have a difficult life, who have no (or little ) friends, have no loving family, have few or no relatives (no more family, orphan, death, born under x...).

I also wish good luck and good luck to anyone considering CTB, or wanting recovery.

Nobody can deprive us of the ultimate freedom to decide our life and our end of life, nobody asked to be born and we are unequal from birth (birth and harmful life, accidents...).

Happy New Year OP!! I'm not normally a glass half full kinda gal- but I enjoyed your genuinely positive message. So many of us here are so sad and broken that negativity can be pretty common on this site. I'll be alone tonight (like many). But I'll have my very spoiled dog to share the recliner with. We'll both be snacking on cheese and Crackers and watching a lifetime movie. Neither of us like those countdown shows! Best wishes to all as we welcome in 2023. Did you know that this is a suicide forum not a toxic positivity forum but of course trolls like you probably lack the awareness to understand that. While I can understand toxic positivity is grating (FB feeds definitely exarcerbate this feeling for me) and I sympathise to a great extent, I don't really see it here to be honest.

I think people here avoid the empty platitudes associated with toxic positivity, but one must take care to not disparage those who wish to eke out a semblance of happiness, even if seems out of reach to many here (myself included). That's what I have to keep reminding myself of. I also remind myself that people (many of whom I respect greatly) who are being positive aren't doing it to make people like you or I feel bad about ourselves, even we're hollow and empty.

Despite my personal misery over festive occasions, I'd be most upset to drag others down with me as it's not a nice place to be.
