Hello, Ive been lurking on the site the past few days and have been dealing with depression and suicidal ideation for over 8 years. I'm 48 hours into VSED. No regular water or food intake, but i am drinking salt water to try to speed up the dehydration, but I'll let you guys know if it works. I hope this works soon, but so far its very mild hunger pangs and just a dry mouth, mild delusions but its something im used to.
I'm 22F, 120lbs, how long do you think i have?

I couldn't last long after 24-ish hours, so you already came far

I honestly didn't even mean to for a good 35 hours, but i already got this far and it seems like a peaceful way for me to pass on in a way that wouldn't alert my family since we eat separately anyways.

VSED outside of a hospice setting is not going to work. There are many threads as to why it doesn't work. Your body will take over before you even know what's happening and you will eat and drink. The hunger is ravenous. The excessive salt will also cause you to feel even shittier. Hypernatremia is not pleasant. Not in the slightest. Far from peaceful.

We attempted to do this a few years ago.

The basic rule of thumb is:
3 minutes without air
3 days without water
3 weeks without food

If the salt water you're drinking has less than .35mg/L of salt, you're not dehydrating yourself.

Sorry you're in so much pain. Be well on your journey.

3 days without water is a very misinforming statement. I myself made it 5 days before caving. There are people here who made it a couple of weeks before caving. Many hospice patients make it weeks as well. Religious VSED is also not that quick. This really only applies if you're out in the desert.

I think for me, this is the most peaceful way to go, but again thats just for me personally. And if that happens it's alright, but I want to try it out since it is my preferred method. I'm not drinking too much though, only half a litre which really wont cause any harm unless i chug it, it will just help me get dehydrated a bit quicker.

Thank you for your well wishes. I made sure to calculate the salt to water content already <3
I think I'll be okay if it doesn't work out the first time i try it. But ill be making updates regardless.

Completely agree, that's why we began with "basic rule of thumb". The expanded rule also includes 3 hours without shelter in harsh weather which is very situational.

When we attempted this we made it between 9-11 days. We were also not sleeping for the duration so we're not precisely sure how many days we lasted. At the end, the first thing we ate was an entire box of cheese crackers which caused us to have massive cramps followed by painful vomiting. We later sipped on our water bottle before passing out in the bathroom. Sucks that not living is so tough.

I feel like someone finding me dying like this is just better than a shot through my skull or me hanging somewhere. I just hope my family understands in the future.

Starving to death seems like least violent method to me
but the process is too agonizing

We keep bouncing back to this method as well but a big part of us says fuck it, lets eat, and be comfortable before pushing a knife into our chest. We don't feel like we deserve food or comfort and cry out of guilt when we eat now. Every time we catch our self being "happy" even for a second we crash into a puddle of tears because we don't deserve it. One thing that we know for certain, the deceased have none of these or any concerns at all.

Fair play to anyone who can starve themselves to death. Takes some incredible will power. I can barely stop myself eating a pack of sweets.

I've gone a month and half of no eating before so i would hope i can do this easily. With not drinking any water, i would hope it doesnt take that long but I'm aware of the possibility of it taking longer. My body is already weak and I'm having trouble staying oriented and even keeping a hand up so i think thats a good sign.

Hi oblivion,

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. Every VSED experience is so valuable to me.

I actually opted for this method too, 2 years ago. But since I've been on this site, I have to admit that I have strong doubts as to whether this is the right method. There is almost no pro-voice at all, but instead a lot of negative voices and experiences.

I found the idea of simply dying by doing NOTHING so harmonious. I thought to myself, YES, that's exactly how it has to be.
A peaceful way to pass away and at the same time an unmistakable message to the bereaved about how great the will to die was and that one could have stoped at any time for a long time.

Ultimately, I think that VSED is probably the method that goes the most differently for each individual. And nobody's course is predictable. Either way, you embark on a scary, long journey that can be completely the opposite of peaceful.
My biggest fear, for example, is that I will slowly suffocate at some point because I produce a lot of mucus and the drying mucus will eventually block my airways.

Maybe one should really go to a lonely place where there is no water and where it is quite warm. Pack a tent and set up somewhere hidden in a secluded, sunny spot with no theoretical possibility of getting water. I think this would give the best chance of a peaceful, quick course to passing out.

But anyway, I hope you make it in the here and now. Peacefully, just as you wish. And I look forward to your updates while you can still give them.
