Their link is fucked, follow this one: https://pegasos-association.com/

So if I understand correctly the only difference with Dignitas or Lifecircle is they speak a better English :) They'll be using the Sarco BTW.

I've read everything in their website, and it seems that the difference with the other associations is quite significant. Unless i misunderstood them ( they are a bit vague on some things), they will actually accept people that don't have siginificant or fatal illnesses, unlike the other ones. The example they refer to, Professor Goodall, was simply old, and felt that the quality of his life wasn't satisfactory anymore. Basically you don't have to be really sick, just getting to a certain age and wanting to exit life on your own terms is enough. The other associations still require mountains of documents from your doctors to be accepted, while Pegasos doesn't require any at all
This difference is in my opinion huge, and pretty amazing.

If it is true then it's even worse IMHO because they would give themselves the power to decide who deserve the right to die or not based on their judgment alone. Goodall was just tired of life but ok we decide you can leave, Smith has been struggling his whole life with mental issues making his life unbeareable but no we decide that we aren't gonna help you. In my opinion they should accept everyone or just follow the rules of terminally ill.

It's hard to tell te difference really, Dignitas and Lifecircle have both accepted people with severe depression in the past or at least not terminally ill, and lately even Exit helped an healthy old woman to die.

This kind of "services" shouldn't be based on money or personal appreciation.

This is good news and I'm glad they do have some mechanisms in place to protect themselves and also reduce the chance of abuse. I do agree that the costs should be lower because not every ill person has 10K euros to spare (11.1K USD as of late).

It still needs a prescription from their doctors for the drug, and they still want medical info .if you have a medical condition. They also really want you to have famiLy support .Have been in contact with them ......

Can you tell us more ? Do you really need to have a medical condition ? Because on their website there is this :
"-Does Pegasos help "well" people to die ?
- Pegasos believes that for a person to be in the headspace of considering ending their lives, their quality of life must be qualitatively poor. Pegasos accepts that some people who are not technically 'sick' may want to apply for a VAD. But this does not mean the person is 'well'. Professor David Goodall was one of these people. He was not sick but his eye sight was failing him, as was his mobility. Old age is rarely kind. The decision to end one's life is an intensely personal one. Pegasos makes every effort to understand fully the unique circumstances of everyone who makes contact with us. "

I'll be curious to see how this goes. Dignatis used nitrogen for a little while and switched back to nembutal because it was better.

I contacted them due to severe pain and immobility from a failed back op in 2018 , I have abnormalities on scans which doctors claim not to be able to see ( I think they are closing ranks ) ...... so they just treat it as chronic back pain. My family wouldn't support me , be involved atm as they think I can get better, so I would have gone alone ... initially it looked hopeful and was asked to send medical info but they were obviously worriedre my family were not involved .....they want to keep a low profile , no bad publicity. They are helpful and speak English . They won't take me at present , I need a diagnosis ! I've written back after reading the website as I th9ught it sounded as though I fit the criteria , but have had no response yet.
Eventually they will offer VAD and Sarco - doesn't need a drs prescription ....
You have to be well enough to get there ..... for me I'm not sure I'll be able to travel much longer even lying down , so suffering severe pain , vpoor quality of life ,need care , Deteriorated a lot since surgery over 16 months, still can't get a VAD ....

sorry to hear that. Well it looks like they are in fact not that different from the other organisations, despite what their website leads to believe.
And from the article links provided by A_Strange_Day, that doctor still got a 120 day suspended sentence for helping that 86 yo depressed woman, because :"However, the judges deemed that assisting suicide for existential reasons is not permitted by Swiss law.".

The Swiss authorities still need notarised documents I think ...... website worth reading .
David Goodall , although not severely ill had health issues, was also 104 , so very old . He also had full family support and family accompanied him .... I think almost anyone could understand his reasons for a VAD .
I think if you have family backing they may help . I contacted them before the website came out and didn't realise they had less formal requirements .
Looking for a peaceful reliable way out , but struggling due to immobility . .....
Thought I'd found it it with Pegasos ..... facing an agonising drawn out decline

Dignitas never really "used" Nitro, it was to experiment a possible alternative to Pentobarbital. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20211999

From what I've read about the Sarco it seems peaceful and fast. Personally if I could I would choose the Sarco over Pentobarbital without hesitation. A nice last ride.

Sadly it's just business and they won't put it in danger by accepting people in a very delicate situation, no bad publicity, low profile. Time will tell but I don't think they are that different. Anyway demand is greater than supply for this kind of services so why not, it's a start.
