Discussion Never Forget - 25th Anniversary

It's honestly crazy how fast it happened~ if it had happened today, the first plane would've hit when I left for work and the last going down when my workplace opened~ it truly was a devastating day~ :( I am grateful to those who fought against this terror back then in spite of all the fear they must've had too~ >_< People talk about the heroic firefighters who went into the buildings and those on Flight 93, risking and sacrificing their lives, but it's also incredible how people also gathered hundreds of ships to get those who couldn't cross the north bridge out, so they they wouldn't be left breathing in all of the pollution~ >_< it truly was a tragic day that while frightening and chaotic at the time, inspired great unity throughout the country~ May those who passed [against their will] be in a better place now and may they be honored for their sacrifices~ :)

I was born 4 years after 9/11 and I'm not American so it's not as ingrained in the culture but it's still insane to me that everyone knows what they did on that day. My dad, my mom, my grandpa, my uncle, even my sister that was 8. Everyone even tho it was an ocean away. I really hoped I would never have to find out how it feels to wake up and realize the world has fundementally changed from what it was when i went to sleep but then February 24th happend. I really hope my kids don't have that experience.

I'm 43 and i saw it live on TV here in Germany back then. I had a dream of one day being rich enough to travel to the USA and stand on top of the WTC because i was always fascinated by that building. I had a chance to go to NYC many years earlier once with my cousin and uncle who went to join a marathon but i was not brave enough to travel by plane back then.
