I'm thinking of staying in a premier inn hotel soon to drink my Nembutal. I have never stayed in a hotel on my own. I'm autistic so doing new things are very scary.

Anytime me and my ex went to a hotel, they would talk and book us in.

Will anyone want to come into the room before the morning?

Is it easy enough to book in?

I'm scared and just want some information about UK hotels I guess. Want to die.

You could book and pay for a room online. Then you only need to talk to the desk staff for the keys. No one will come into the room until check out the next morning. You should be ok

Thank you, I should do that. Do I just give my name and ID to them when I go in?

once you get to the room, put a DO NOT DISTURB SIGN on the door -- sometimes housekeeping likes to knock and ask if you got all that you need etc etc etc . You may even call from the room front desk and tell them you are going to bed early not to call the room ......

I won't be able to call the front desk. Bad anxiety. I'll put the sign on though :>

I've never had anyone knock when a do not disturb sign is on the door - you'll be fine

You don't have to show I'd, in no way is it compulsory,
Like a few comments up just book on line and collect keys when you arrive and place the do not disturb sign,
Good luck though OK.

Doesn't this only apply when the person has paid by card previously, which acts as ID? I called up a chain and they said that it would be a rule for every hotel that when paying by cash, ID is required in some form. Either way, if you go missing and family/friends suspect you are a danger to yourself, couldn't the police look at a centralised database of hotel guests, or put out an alert to all hotels to find this person? The member of staff I spoke to seemed to indicate this was the case in the UK, but I've never travelled so maybe I'm reading that wrong and they just require ID to investigate things later?

Disposable visa cards not tied to identity (like bitcoin debit cards) seem to be unavailable now, so it's hard to imagine a way to be untraceable in doing this in the UK.

well you can't file a missing persons case i think for 48 hours or something?? i don't remember. but you don't need to show ID, they'll track for sure but you'd be long gone dead. she'd have to book for 3 days or something so they don't come in. can easily tell people they'll be gone for those 3 days and then no one will worry ig

Oh really, didn't know that. I wonder if it's different when the person has a history - both arrest and sectioning. If they treat it as they would treat someone who is a risk to themselves, I fear these limits would be thrown away. The people who know me would know exactly what's up if I said I'm going away for 3 days, unfortunately.

When you didn't show ID, had you booked via card or with cash?

Thanks for the reply!

i don't think so unless you've made threats. my ex called them when i walked out n left a note. they had a k-9 unit and multiple cars looking for me. i was sent home after an hour though, no hospitalisation

i always book online, travelodge just want a booking reference.

edit: i have a huge history of suicide attempts so it didn't change anything

You would ask the hotel not to give out information about your stay.

Tell them you're trying to get away from a crazy ex girlfriend or something.

And do use the do not disturb card. Hang it on the door handle outside the room.

You should also book for several days, so they won't try to reclaim your room.

The thing is, the police, my family, and mental health professionals are all aware that I don't leave notes in advance or make threats, and plan things months in advance. They would all be in agreement on exactly what's happening if I left for even 3 days then stopped responding via phone, and a phone could be used to track so that would have to be left at home. It's out of character except for one goal. And they know I can acquire the most lethal drugs and would be dead if they waited even an hour. They could look at my bank history and see a hotel purchase, even if it's not information kept in a hotel stay database. It would be treated as a special case, and they can begin immediately if they believe you're a harm to yourself or others. So does anyone know what the current investigatory powers of the police are in the UK in circumstances like this? Like, what things can they access immediately, and what things take time to be requested?

You'd be class as missing person so as long as your plans to exit this world were carried out within 24 hours there's nothing they can do, you are correct about your phone being tracked and of course your bank records could be accessed but with police budgets the way there are I think its a safe bet you won't be on the top of there list unless you are under 18, then you would classed as a missing vulnerable person,
If your going to get a hotel room do it on the day and always pay in cash, look smart and give a false name, you won't need I.D.
Be safe.

i don't know what your method is or how long it takes for you to die from it but it wouldn't matter as long as you do it on the day you leave. and keep on contacting them until you do it. sooner or later your body will need to be found so 3 days was a figure of speech, you could honestly do it in 2. police don't tend to prioritise people over 18 like that, like with my case i literally wrote in my letter i was going to drown myself and that meant they had to get the whole station out there looking for me at the beach. if i hadnt written a note they would've just told my partner to wait and call later.

I would suggest doing your method in the bathroom if you can with the door closed. And then leave a note in big writing warning the cleaner who comes in what is going on so they are not traumatised by finding you. I am considering a hotel as well and that was one of my thoughts

I like this idea. Bathtub could be good for exit bag method, since it'd would stop you slouching over etc

The method would be N, so I guess my worries are unnecessary. The PPeH seems to indicate that it's all over in around an hour, usually much sooner. The purpose of the hotel would just be to spare family the trauma.

Is it possible to just pay in cash without giving real ID? Everything I've heard so far indicates the ID is a legal requirement for "security" when paying by cash, but would like to hear if anyone else in the UK has been able to pay by cash without having to show ID or put a card on file, as I don't travel much. And thanks, I'm not under 18 unfortunately. At the moment it's just a plan, I need to have a way out, but don't expect to use it for at least the time being.

Most UK hotels have you write out a card with your name and address. I have always paid by card and filled out the form. You could always put the wrong address on the form I guess

You don't need any form of identification to get a hotel or bed and breakfast room.
Just go to and hotel or bed and breakfast and pay by cash, I do it a few times a month and I am never asked to show I'd, its not a requirement not even a legal requirement to carry or show identification to show the police if you are stopped.
