Has anyone here ever had a near death experience that they would be open to discussing? What was it like? One of my fears is being stuck in "hell" for eternity.

I'm not a religious person and I've been an atheist for 90% of my life but, all of a sudden I'm starting to care and getting scared of hell the closer I am to CTB'ing, which is very odd for me.

I went into a coma, and then I saw different colors of light and heard very beautiful sounds. I felt very peaceful. That was 6 years ago. At that time I almost died... Until now, I still miss that feeling very much

I've never had a near-death experience but, like you, I've become very interested in them as I start to contemplate my own death.

It's very odd for me as well as I'd never taken spirituality or religion very seriously until I learned about NDEs. I thought it was complete nonsense. Now the entire nature of reality itself is on the table.

One very common aspect of the NDE is the "life review" where you re-live the pain you caused other people while you were alive. By hurting other people, you really only hurt yourself because apparently we're all part of the same cosmic consciousness anyway. So you don't burn in hell for eternity - your consciousness experiences some pain and suffering as part of a growing process. I've heard it described as your spirit being "cleaned" before you return to the realm of love and perfection.

Dying sounds like the most amazing thing that can happen to a person. Like being drowned in infinite, unconditional love and compassion with no physical limitations on what you can do and where you can go. Suicide doesn't disqualify you from this experience as many people who have attempted suicide have had amazing NDEs as well.

The most vivid NDE I've had was my recent hanging attempt (I was cut down and "saved" after appx 3 minutes of full strangulation and vasoconstriction.) I jumped from a second story and only achieved a partial, but it was enough for me to lose consciousness in ~10 seconds. As I lost consciousness, my vision went out and was replaced by a soft green light, and this light gradually turned white and intensified. As the light got brighter, my sense of peace grew until I was fully at peace. I would say this happened quickly, but a weird thing happened to time, it seemed to dilate and stretch out, and then...its not like it disappeared, but its like it stopped meaning anything.

Hope that helps!

I've never had one but I was watching a few of them recently. They talk about ''God'' as this loving being.I suggest checking it out.

The thing with NDE is that every person tends to have a different story to tell. Maybe that's because it's different for every human?
When I partially hanged, I passed out for some seconds but there was just darkness and no sound at all. Just that.

As for hell, I wouldn't worry so much about that. Just look at the world we live in. This is hell. Babies die, children and women are raped, innocent people is shot, there was a time when there were slaves, etc.

Still, even if I only saw "darkness" that time, I think we're living in a simulation and for some reason we all decided to experience this bulls**t world.

Hell is a concept invented by charlatans to make you put more money in their collection plate. Stop worrying about it.

I almost drowned one time and it felt nice and peaceful as if I was just falling asleep. It actually felt kind of warm. That was before I was rescued tho so no water has gotten into my lungs. Another time I almost suffocated on a ski attraction and I was trying to get the thing off of my neck and was struggling but I wasn't strong enough to take it oof, my vision got blurry and I saw this dark circle from sides of my vision closing in. Then I was rescued again.

I have never experienced an NDE, but after reading numerous accounts. I am inclined to think there might be something after death, maybe. I would like to think that maybe my suffering meant something. But honestly, it could just be hopeful platitudes spouted by people who want to give others a false sense of hope. Who knows. Or maybe its just brain chemicals.

Just like you I was in a coma for a short time. It was just like sleep, woke up like no time passed and was instantly pissed for waking up.

My first instinct was to dismiss NDEs as chemically induced. I thought perhaps the brain releases a potent cocktail of DMT and opiates to soften the blow of death. But what evolutionary purpose would that actually serve? Why would we be programmed this way? And how does this even happen if you're dead?

Those that have had NDEs (which should be distinguished from near-death situations where you don't actually die) say that the other side is infinitely more real than this physical realm. If our physical reality is 2D black and white then the other side sounds like full-colour virtual reality immersion. I've taken DMT and it's an incredible experience but I wouldn't describe it as hyper-real.

There are actually NDE accounts of people who have been blind from birth who were able to see for the first time when they died. Others have been able to recall conversations that friends and relatives had in different rooms after they were physically dead.

Dr Eben Alexander's NDE is particularly enlightening. He's a neurosurgeon who had no interest in this kind of woo woo until he actually died and experienced it for himself.

This doctor's account is quite uplifting as well.

I keep waiting for someone who has had a near death experience to describe what exactly the afterlife looks like, in terms of surroundings, what people wear, how they get around, where they "live" such as houses, do they eat, do they work, are they in a town, city, countryside, some other type of place.

I don't quite believe that doctor who wrote that book for some reason. He is too rehearsed when he talks.
It's easy to dismiss one person's account if it doesn't sit well but after listening to hundreds of these, I'm convinced that there is life after death now. I don't think there's a religious conspiracy at play.

Your consciousness leaves your body so you don't need the physical protection of a house. I guess you just fly around as an orb of consciousness until you get bored and reincarnate. Maybe.

I've never had an NDE or OBE but it's something I've studied for years. Here's the largest collection of stories on the internet for anyone that's interested. There are also alot of CTB related accounts there.
