I'm trying to buy N from A, and I've been quoted $450 a bottle, $600 for 2. Does this sound right? I feel like it's a scam. I got the email from the PPeH

I suspect a wrong one, because I did the effort of emailing both the legit A and that scammer and the prices OP is mentioning are exactly what the scammer offered me.

I recommend you to find the legit PPeH (Jan 2021 version) in this topic:

Make sure to check the email address letter by letter.

OP sent me the email address he used via PM and it's indeed the scammer's one, like I suspected. Same one as encountered a few weeks before.

I've never seen it, but maybe compare yours to @DutchSuicidalPerson's. Or maybe DSP can post the phony email in the scam thread for all to see as a warning?

The ones on the PPeH are all legit, although not all emails are in use anymore. It's just there are fake versions of the PPeH circulating on the internet, where the scammers change one letter in the email address.

Those prices sound the same as what others have been paying.

Prices depend on where you live. I don't have A's response anymore, maybe there is a region where one bottle is indeed $450 and two are $600. OP will have to check the email address carefully to validate if he used the legit one or not.

I've sent a PM to @RainAndSadness asking if there's a reason why it's still listed and if it can be removed. I had a look myself and it indeed contains a scammer's e-mail.

In general, N's availability (and email addresses) changes quite often. Something from 2018 is way too outdated. Right below the 2018 one, there's also a link to the "January 2021" version, which is uploaded by @RainAndSadness herself and is confirmed to be legit.

I don't think I'm allowed to do that.

Maybe it would be a good idea to add a mention in the topic that the Jan 2021 (and further) versions have been uploaded by a trusted moderator on this forum?

I'm furious. Why does that happen? I removed the fake PPH. I'll have a serious talk with my colleagues. The last time I checked the 2018 edition was alright. I'm gonna investigate this for sure, from now on I'll remove any PPH linked in this forum that's not directly uploaded by me.

Stay away from the suicide Wiki, it contains PLENTY of scammer emails. I'll WHIPE it.

Sorry, but I hope this is not going to become some new fight between us - that link seems to link to a 2020 version (at least that's what's in the filename title), not a 2018 version. It has probably been changed over time. I have sent you a screenshot and the link via PM, I think the fake email is still there this time so you can check yourself.

Yeah the file was replaced back in November. The 2018 edition that was listed before was legit, so I don't know why anyone would do this but I'm done with this. I'll remove all links to any PPH that isn't uploaded by me personally from now on. I'm done with scammers outflanking staff and trying to infiltrate us like that.

I think that's a great idea. You're the only reliable source of the PPeH I personally know. The Wiki is also full of links to older versions of the PPeH (I think there are over 20 of them), I bet there are at least a few fake ones in there as well. I'm not sure if it's possible, but maybe they can be removed as well?

I hope you're not furious at me now - you can clearly see I did my best to prevent someone to get scammed here. I get that it's frustrating that this issue occurs again, but the fact is that any PPeH you personally didn't upload yourself can't seem to be trusted.

EDIT: I've opened a random one in the Wiki and it contains the scammers e-mail as well. So yeah, if you can, wipe it and leave only your own uploads.

Just a quick bump....

I see the Wiki still contains the list of old PPH editions. I think it would be a very good idea to take them down. I'm actually amazed that they are there. Can anybody upload them or is it Admin that put them there? It's really quite concerning.

I've applied to the Exit forums and paid for a copy of the PPH but am still waiting for access to be provided.

The only plausible reason is that the scammer is one of the website's administrators. Otherwise it makes zero sense since this website switched hosts, changed layouts, etc numerous times since 2018. There is no reason to keep it up and it is not hard to take down.
