My SN has arrived today but...

Not sure this is the correct product.
There were three kinds of SN offered by my chemical supplier. "Alimentary", "With anti-caking" and "Without anti-caking" I bought the last one cause it seemed to me to be the purest one.
Now that I have the sack in my hands (25kg) it feels like a big brick. Very solid and compact. I wonder if it's possible to dilute this correctly. I haven't opened it yet. Any thoughts?

I know it's a lot, but this supplier is very reliable and they only sell wholesale. I have the excuse of a meat processing company of a close relative.
But yeah, I'm going to have an awful lot left over.

SN forms lumps easily, especially without anti-caking agent. It's natural and doesn't mean it's gone bad or anything. Mine is lumpy too and I got it in sealed plastic jar.

What would the anti caking agent be, do you know? And would this additive explain any of the failures, as the purity wouldn't be as high?

I don't know exactly what agent is used in that case, but they usually amount to 0.03-0.05%, so it's really insignificant and shouldn't have any impact when ctb'ing with SN.

I only have a few hundred grams and mine formed hard lumps. I think it's pretty normal. Got enough SN to off us all there lol.

Mine is chunky, as is most people's. I put some in water, it still dissolved just fine. SN is highly solvent in water, that's its nature.

Now that I finally got the key that can bring me to an endless peace I must say that I don't feel the urgent desire to ctb.

Of course you do!! you can order aquarium testing kits online, their are also labs that will test your stuff for free!
