My SN order has finally arrived and so I figured I would share the method that I used for those who are struggling. Do note that I had mine ordered to Dublin, Ireland so some of the specifics may not apply to you.
Step 1: Go onto MiC and search for listing of SN with a high purity.
(If you're not sure what MiC is, look on the back of basically any piece of electronics you own for a 3 word phrase. Then enter that three word phrase into DuckDuckGo and it will bring you to a market place with the same name)
Step 2: Browse through the listings for high purity (>95% at least) listings that have high ratings. Whenever you find one, message the seller directly (the site has a chat function) and say that you would like to get a quote on ordering a 100 gram (or more if needed) sample to your location.
Step 3: Wait for responses for sellers. You may get a couple different kind of responses. For me I saw:
1) People asking me what the SN was for. I tried giving a couple different answers, like saying it was for meat curing or just 'personal use'. Each time the seller asked me what the SN was for they ended up not selling me a sample, but your mileage may vary.
2) People who seem open to and interested in selling you a sample. They will often have something like the following in the SN posting description:
It is my belief that the second kind of seller is aware of what we are ordering SN for and does not seem to care as long as they get a sale.
Step 4: Work out the details with the seller. You will probably be asked for an address so that they can quote you a delivery fee (I gave a parcel locker for the address). Note that you will probably be over-charged somewhat so that the seller can take a cut for the sale. For 100 grams of SN to Dublin, Ireland I was originally quoted $170 but haggled down to $150. I then had to pay a €20 import fee on the order (this was charged through UPS).
Step 5: Ensure that the seller is comfortable mislabeling the contents of the box to avoid customs issues. If they are willing to send a small sample of SN to an individual then they are likely not to have any problems with doing this.
Step 6: Transfer the money. I did this through PayPal.
Step 7: Wait for the order tracking details to be shared (my guy used UPS).
Step 8: Track the order and wait for it to be delivered.
