As many of you read from my last post, after the suicide of my best friend I decided to put that energy into something else. I started making a film about mental illness and tragedy. All on VHS and Polaroid.
When I posted it here I wasn't expecting much of a response. I was more than surprised by the overwhelmingly positive feedback you all gave me. Well I'm here to tell you that the film is ready. Completely. I submitted it to three different film festivals and am waiting to see if it's accepted.
Here is the final poster:
I also have a surprise.
Since this is pretty much a secret forum, I won't be breaking any rules from the festivals by sharing the final cut of the film here with you all.
In case you haven't seen already, here is the trailer:
I also got my first review from a fellow filmmaker:
"In a cinematic environment bludgeoned again and again with refinery and ostentatious technology, "Born Into It" is a virtuoso of honesty, transparency, and grit that serves as a breath of fresh air in the field of documentary. The crude, grounded nature of both the featured tales of tragedy and struggle, and the visual format it is delivered in, alchemize a mystifying, humbling experience. "Born Into It" will bestow upon its audience a heavy, self-reflective silence, rather than the traditionally coveted thunderous applause."
And without further ado, here is my film 'Born Into It' (It's a private link, so keep it secret. You are the first I'm sharing it with):
