Hello everyone.
I started repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment today. I thought someone might be interested in it so I'll share my experience. I'll update about it in this thread. English isn't my first language so I'm sorry if I make mistakes.

rTMS is a treatment for depression (and some other issues as well). I can't tell about the science part but I'll link wikipedia.

So the first time was today. First they looked for the place they're putting the magnet. It took about 5 minutes. They drew a dot to my head so they can find the same place the next time too. Then they put some kind of machine to my head and gave me magnetic impulses for 15 minutes. It didn't hurt but it was a little uncomfortable.

The treatment is going to last a month and is every day from Monday to Friday. The nurse said it can start helping after a week or a bit longer.

If you have questions I try to answer but this was the first time so I don't know if it helps yet.

Best of luck !! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Getting a referral for TMS is one of my biggest treatment fantasies.

I had 30 sessions of rTMS last year. It helped my depression after 10 sessions, and the discomfort goes away.

Oddly, enough my fibromyalgia went into remission for 7 months, but that wasn't an expected result. It was a bonus!

I noticed a deep sense of full body relaxation during treatments that would last for a couple of hours after.

I paid $3000 for 30 treatments, as I didn't meet the criteria for free treatment.

So, I would recommend TMS if depression is your only diagnosis. I hope that this helps.

My PTSD and BPD has brought me here.

First time hearing about it! So thanks for bringing it up, I'll look into that!

If you have questions I try to answer but this was the first time so I don't know if it helps yet.

I, indeed, have some questions. By the way, you don't have to answer them if you don't want to.
Did you bring that up to a doctor or a therapist to help you through this procedure? I mean, how did this opportunity fall on you?

It sound like a good thing to try, I guess, but I think that the price, at least for me, could be a little harsh? Maybe the assurance can play a role and help pay as well?

It's very paperwork questions but this things really tingle my curiosity.

Thanks x

That's awesome to hear how much that helped! Maybe the fibromyalgia and the depression were related. The mind and body are so connected.

What do you mean by discomfort? How does it feel?

My doctor suggested it. Yes it's a good thing to try. I don't know about prices in private health care but I'm getting the treatment in public health care. You should ask your doctor about it. I hadn't heard about it before the doctor told about this.

Hi, I'm looking into this myself for BPD symptoms as I've run out of 'usual' options.
Did you find that the relief of your depressive symptoms helped you manage your BPD?
I'm not looking for a 'cure' for BPD, I just want to be able to manage it enough to allow therapy to really take effect.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

In my experience the TMS treatments didn't make a significant difference in my depression but may have helped somewhat with my anxiety. I'm still suicidal but trying my best to rally on and try one or two more things until I finally give up. Ketamine nasal sprays are the next line of treatment I'm interested in.

Magnets when properly used in combination with breathwork can really get your blood pumping ultra fast. Good luck with this therapy, OP.

I don't know if it's legal where you are, but have you tried medical marijuana? It worked for me in combination with my meds.

Sorry Long Post.
The clinic that I went to was using an older machine. They got their new quieter/gentler machines just as my treatment was finishing up!
The sensation on the older machine feels and sounds like a woodpecker tapping on your scalp. Even though fibromyalgia keeps me overly sensitive to pain, this didn't feel painful. You could still carry on conversations with people in the room.

Payment stuff:
If you live in a place where you have to pay for health care, and your insurance doesn't cover it, look into clinical trials at teaching hospitals.
The research team at the clinic I went to is doing trials on promising areas beyond depression and anxiety.
It's worth fighting with your insurer. TMS is not a new therapy. Big pharma has unfortunately done a good job of "gatekeeping"
The FDA approved TMS for depression in 2008! You would have to look up the percentage of patients that can taper off their antidepressants permanently after one round of treatment, but it's likely a good number. Again, win-win for your insurer and you! Often, insurance companies say No, because sick people don't fight them. It pays sometimes.

I had just been diagnosed with BPD, and hadn't come to grips with it. Actually, having undiagnosed BPD for 55 years and undiagnosed PTSD 44 years is why I am here.
I am experiencing cognitive decline as well, and so I can't answer your question. I wish that I could help.

In case it's helpful, there are "Nootropics" groups on FB where lots of people are dealing with brain fog/cognitive decline. It could be wortch checking out those groups. I@ve spent so much dosh on snake oil, but you never know, there could be a supplement/nootropic that migh thelp you
I'm nto trying to be rosy-tinted - I have been bed-ridden the past year or so with depression and was very keen on ending things, till I took a megadose of lsd on Sunday! So please don't take it as preaching - I jsut try everying to feel better, with varying degrees of luck!

I use nootropics....5-htp...for Serotonin. L-theanine....for dopamine. Gaba for depression. Some people are short of Gaba. I'm one of them. Gaba is fantastic. I also use CBD oil. Sleeping tablets work by enhancing gaba in the brain.
I was going to use Kratom. But I'm in UK and it's prohibitive substance. Do some research on Gaba. I get mine from Poland. and also Kratom. Kratom It might be legal in some states of the US. But check your countries and States (US) laws regarding this subst ance Kratom.

@BlackPoppet Kratom is very easy to import from Holland. It didn't work for me (just made me vomit!!!) but it does work for lots of people. There are some very reliable Dutch importers with very legit websites, and currently easy to import. I got some for testing with no issues. I am London.
Here are Nootropics on one Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/NootropicsAndMore/

I do have reliable suppliers eg for Modafinil and Phenbiut, which are established onlihne businesses - and I am not linked to them. So if anyone wants info, you are welcome to PM. I entirely promise the businesses are nothing to do with me, and I make no money. I would just like to support anyohne else who is suffering as I know what it is to suffer with mi.

And now to sleep!!!!! Good nithgt UK folks in my timezone

hi fellow Londoner! I could get Kratom from the Netherlands. But I'm worried about it getting to London and it being confiscated.
@Little Jem. May I follow you! You can follow me back too if you want! :-)

You are most welcome to follow me.

In my experience, shipping is discrete. The Dutch company sent mine disguised and in discrete packaging. I think pre-Brexit it is very unlikely you'll have any issue.

I have packets of all the stuff I tested that didn't work! But it is a God-send for some . I really hope it helps you!

Ensure you select a company with "discrete Shipping." Kratom is not dangerous if dosed safely - there is lots of helpful information online.

Hello! Updating the situation now. I've had now 5 sessions of the TMS. It started to feel actually relaxing last week. Yesterday it was cancelled because there were not enough nurses (because of corona virus). But today I was there again. It hurt today for some reason. But it was manageable. I think the treatment has been helping at least a little bit. They gave me BDI paper to fill (depression test). That will show if the treatment has an effect.

Had you tried other psychedelics before? Just wondering because psilocybin did not help my depression but I have wanted to try LSD.
