my dad has been drinking since he was about 15. Still going at it at age 56.
On my biomoms side - my grandma quit the sauce when she was 50. She was a school teacher before it was discovered that she was hiding whiskey in her desk. She is now in her late 70s I believe and working at a daycare center in North Carolina.
Her sister drank herself to death at age 39. Her daughter drank herself to death at age 35.
My grandfather on my biomoms side is still kicking. Never saw him since I was 10. He drank from his teens until he was around 60. Now he's sober.
My dads side - well he's still a drunk. His grandparents on his moms side were moonshiners and drank heavily from the 1910s until they joined the Mormon church in the 1940s. Both lived to be in their 90s.
What a legacy.
