Where I live, there is a bridge that is the go-to suicide spot. Every now and again you hear about traffic getting blocked on it due to an 'incident'. Everyone knows what that means, and the word spreads, because people in cars or passers by see the person, or the items they left.
The media NEVER reports on it. They never report on any suicides here which I find odd. Apparently pretending like there isn't a suicide epidemic is helpful somehow. I guess they don't want to give people ideas? It's stupid though because you find out through word of mouth.
The bridge is a busy main road and only about 50 metres high, which I understand is too low to be reliable, however it is over (very cold) water, so I guess if the impact doesn't do the job, the drowning or hypothermia would. I am not in the US.
