I made a thread before about my method, how I will be using argon. But I didn't want to put a bag over my head and I didn't really want to be found with a bag over my head. The handbook advises against using a mask, and there is medical literature on euthanasia in which people had problems with a mask because it didn't seal properly.

But those were medical oxygen masks, not designed to seal. And I found a medical report on a nitrogen suicide that used a full face diving mask successfully, because those are designed to seal.

So, I bought this mask on ebay. I wasn't sure how good it would be because it was only $20 but it arrived today and man, it's perfect. Almost.
$_10.JPG

The seal around my face is almost totally airtight, it's an extremely snug fit, and it has a one way valve at the bottom to let out CO2 when you breathe out.

The only issue with it is that as you can see in the picture, the removable snorkel at the top is not round. So attaching a hose with a good seal is going to be a challenge.

But otherwise, it's exactly what I wanted. As long as I can attach the hose, it's going to work perfectly.

I just wanted to share because I'm excited that it's so good.

I would get my argon cylinder with pressure regulator and a hose pipe tomorrow.. I would got some old oxygen masks ..need to figure out if I can use them ..if not will go for bag method . Any idea what should be the flow of gas to be set at ??

Definitely anxious ...hope to pull it off successfully ...want to guys to pls pray for me... I have to be successful...

This is my first attempt and want it to be final as well

I think I might have linked you to this in a message, but you should read chapter 5 carefully
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-2NX0jVOjCrOJycMsy3KLXHMSGL3MSnV

flow of gas should be 15 L/min

oxygen masks won't work because they don't seal well enough

I hope that once your argon arrives you feel more at peace, when my mask arrived and I tried it on I immediately felt relief

Oh yes ...you did share it earlier .. I remember reading about it but wasn't sure where. My memory isn't been good these days:)

Yes ..once I receive the cylinder will be at peace... then it would be less challenging to figure out the way ahead...
Done Lot of literature and discussion around this method ... Now am almost there to put every thing into action :)

Cant thank you enough @onewayroad for all support and the detailed information you provided ...

And ofcourse to talk me out of helium to argon :)

Hey onewayroad im planning on the same setup with scuBa diving mask and hose attached to the snorkel...two questions 1.what kind of hose have you purchased i can find half an inch only and the regualtor outlet is thinner should i go this rouTVe and tape it well
https://www.amazon.in/Olrada-Nylon-meter-Rubber-Clamps/dp/B0166QM4XW
2.my pressure regulator doesnt have a flowmeter ones that do are expensive is it going to be too much of a problem..someone here has helped convert litres per minute into bar pressure though

Hey. 1. I haven't got the hose yet buying my regulator this weekend, then I'll see what kind of hoses fit it. 2. as far as I know you need a flowmeter unfortunately... it was the most expensive part of my setup

what mask will you be using? I think it needs to be full face for it to work

Yes the ones with flowmeters are pretty expensive ill see what i can do,Thanks for answering...scuba diving mask only the one in your picture a varianthttps://www.amazon.in/Revolutionary-Degree-Season-Training-Snorkeling/dp/B07J5J3M4M/ref=mp_s_a_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1539843772&sr=8-27&pi=AC_SL180_QL70&keywords=diving+mask
there was another case in india a techie used a scuba diving mask to ctb

That is exactly the same mask that I am using. Let me know when you get it — you'll see the problem I have connecting the hose to the mask. Still not sure what to do about it. I don't want to just tape it up.

Anyway let me know when your mask arrives. Maybe we can work it out together.

The photographs of the slovak guy you shared has used a full face mask too and hasnt left much space for any air to enter from anywhere by the looks of it guess we could tape the hose into the snorkel real tight..

I won't be going until I have tried every treatment first, so I'll be around for at least six months.

Liquid silicone would work nicely

Now I start thinking about using a mask too. I have almost everything for a bag exit, but I want to check every possible option.

It wouldn't work that well because of the width of the mask connection. You'll know what I mean when you look at it.

I was thinking heat shrink + cable tie. Just so you know the width of the mask inlet is exactly 45 mm. So you would need heat shrink that is > 45mm.

I will have a look at this mask today:
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/easybreath-mask-blue-id_8304664.html

I think I asked you this before - but I i didn't understand your answer. Can you try again please. How will this mask handle CO2 removing.
How will you prevent CO2 built up in such small space - the valve will do that?

[I'm so sorry for repeating myself; this bit with CO2 bothers me way too much than necessary]

There's a one-way valve at the bottom of the mask that will release CO2, I'm pretty sure this mask is ideal. Except for the connection. But I have a plan for that.

Edit: that's the same mask just with a different brand

Getting my regulator this weekend, then I'll know what kind of tube I'll need. I'll keep you posted.

Why do you need a flowmetre? Seems like a waste of money to me. A few minutes of trial and error should negate the need for that.

You may not have enough time for 'trial and error' as you lose conscience too quick. But instead of exiting peacefully you might finish with brain damage.

I mean just having the gas pump into the bag and checking it is reasonable flowrate just by looking at it(without it over your head obviously). Im using industrial nitrogen with a proper hose and regulator. Im sure there will be more than enough gas as long as the force isnt enough to push the bag off. The max dog regulator has a very thin tube and the tank is tiny.

Too much gas wont give you brain damage :). Just gotta ensure its not too rough.

How will you know flow rate is 'good' without a meter then?
I would say If the flow rate is too low - it could induce oxygen being sucked into the bag. Please correct me if Im wrong here.

Im not afraid of 'too much gas'. My tank is 3 times the size of a tank from maxdog.

Its really not that complicated. If you really are unsure hold your breath and put the bag on. If you can feel the gas escaping through the neck than its fine. I mean 15lpm is just a figure. Im sure youd have to adjust it anyway. I think my gas cylinder has a lpm reader built in im not sure how it works (genie cylinder)
