I listen to loads of classical music and so much of it encapsulates my depression and thoughts.


If you are looking for the depressing portions just skip to the fourth movement which is in the description of the video. Tchaikovsky's Sixth symphony is his last and most depressing composition. The symphony's first performance was only nine days before Tchaikovsky's death. There are theories that the symphony is a suicide note which might interest some here. Suicide note or not it's an excellent symphony that I listen to often.


Lili Boulanger is an extremely underrated French composer who's composition have intensely melancholic themes. D'un soir triste (A sad evening) was written during the last year of her short life. D'un soir triste is in my opinion her most melancholic composition rivaling only Boulanger's last work Pie Jesu which was written on her deathbed. While I stated only her most melancholic compositions, I highly suggest listening to her other works which I find even more beautiful such as Boulanger's Psalm 130, Psalm 129, Faust et Helene (which won her the Prix de Rome), and Vieille prière bouddhique (Old Buddhist Prayer).

Ive been listening lots of piano pieces lately and this is by far my favorite

(in my opinion)The most beautiful piece from chopin, probably not really within the musical taste of most here but honestly it's just so beautiful, incredible to think that someone wrote it 200 years ago, and what theyve been through to write it

Sometimes described as a manifestation of crippling loneliness and i really do think that fits.
