Soylent Green has an euthanasia scene
One of my favourite films.

Well, 'Virgin Suicides' is the one that springs instantly to mind.
A really unique film with a beautiful soundtrack by AIR.

The bridge (golden gate documentary)

I cried my eyes out by this one. That guy, its so clear he wanted to be saved, and no one even cared looking at him..

Yeah, I love DPS, just watched it twice a few weeks ago. Have known that film for thirty years, so I know how I'd react to certain scenes and when parts begin to leave me cold that's very telling. Still enjoyed it though.

Other than that:
Ben X (a small Dutch film about an autist who gets bullied at school, really good)
American Beauty (to a degree)
Taxi Driver

But really the most beautiful suicide scene I've seen is from a Japanese film called Harmonium. It's a drowning, and I just so happen have a link:
(password: dive)

Why does American Beauty make you think of suicide? It is one of my favourite movies but I have never noticed any suicidal themes. What did you notice?
The Sunset Limited
Suicide Room
Wristcutters: A Love Story
Harold and Maude (one of my favorite movies, everyone should watch it haha)
LOVE Harold and Maude. One of my favourite movies too!!

Am interested to watch this documentary, that seems well captured, because of the guy's diagnosis (PDD-NOS) that in some ways appeals to me.
Unfortunately, can't make it through the payment process of Vimeo. It requires a verified Paypal I can't have
If anyone's willing to buy it then upload it somewhere online protected, I'm willing to send twice the amount by Bitcoin. This way, we don't have to reveal our mutual identities and hopefully you can watch the doc too (if not protected with some DRM / per machine use)
Please PM beforehand. Cheers

Sonatine by Takeshi Kitano and Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese are two all-around fantastic movies (my favorite ones) and deal with said subject.

Yeah, really like it too. Not saying it is so, but to me it has some suicidal vibes because the theme in essence is something most of us will be thinking about as well.

Like finding one's purpose, making peace with oneself, one's desires, one's limitations, and the universe as such. Also, numbed senses, regret, wasting decades of one's life, reminiscing better times, not least the innocence of one's youth and childhood, and of course finding love and genuine happiness. As you know, the movie ends with him dying, but he's at peace with everything, even his own death, although not by his own hand. Probably wasn't meant as a metaphor, but exchanging the colonel for mhi or some other suicidal circumstance and it kinda fits. Am reading too much into it. Hehe. What I mean is, being at peace with, and fully accepting one's life and death is an admirable state of mind to obtain, and probably the most noble way to leave this existence behind, with a smile and love, not turmoil and hate.

A dystopian movie in which suicide is accepted: Children of Men. (More prominent in the novel.)
An apocalyptic movie in which suicide basically is a necessity: On the Beach. (The novel is much darker.)

I just watched You Don't Know Jack about Dr. Jack Kevorkian (played by Al Pacino), an assisted suicide advocate in the United States. I thought it was excellent.

It's not a movie, it's a series called "The End" that's all about CTB. Definitely one to watch.
