Movie and Show Recommendations

I'm looking for movies that end in suicide or have suicide as their main theme. Also any shows or movies that have SH as a theme. Any recommendations?

1. Helen (2009)... never seen a movie that depicts depression so well.. don't watch the trailer, it looks like a soap opera.. here's a random clip instead.. also, i found a nice summary..

also:

- Leaving Las Vegas (1995) - the "alcohol" method
- Control (2007) - biographical, about Ian Curtis
- Downloading Nancy (2008) - technically homicide but not really

all of them about suicide, no idea about anything SH-related. maybe Girl, Interrupted - haven't seen it but it's super popular and I think it's mostly about BPD.

You gotta like slow cinema to enjoy it, it's pretty experimental but it's the perfect depiction of what a depressed, antisocial, suicidal junkie rockstar looks like
If you're dealing/have dealt with depression or suicidal thoughts, you'll get it

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but watch Heathers (1989) if you haven't already. Suicide is the main theme there, but it's more of a black comedy so it's not it if you want something serious.

its a great movie , the main theme is about a daughter reminiscing about her father and their relationship and so on so forth.

A star is born (2018) actually, ends with a suicide. Although it's been depicted in a subtle way. Great music though.

Then there's Ken Park (2002) which begins with a suicide. An interesting movie, but brutal and xxx rating.

Lemming (2005) with Charlotte Rampling is also worth mentioning.

And of course, Love Liza (2002) with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

2. Oslo , August 31 (2011) - a bit more serious and poignant
3. Before I disappear (2014) - more about attempts and just holding on , its nice and pretty underrated
4. Last life in the Universe(2003) - this ones in my watch list so I don't know how good it is but 100% sure iti fits the criteria
5. The Taste of Cherry (1997) - heavily recommended , first movie I ever saw about suicide
6. Wristcutters : A love story (2006) - watch list (fits the criteria)

There are some really good movies that somewhat fit the criteria as they feature suicides but its not the main theme like
- Sentimental value(2025) - really good movie
- Dead Poets Society (1989)
- Detachment (2011) - features a suicide , good movie .

and some other classics like Girl,Interrupted and The virgin Suicides

There are a lot of suicide lists on Letterboxd , check them out so that you aren't just watching bad movies which feature suicide but those lists have a somewhat vague criteria .
I'm pretty sure the first six movies I mentioned fulfill the criteria though .
