most effective gun to ctb?

what's the best gun I can buy that's most likely to kill me? I live in a place where guns are extremely accessible, so I think this method is my only choice. I've already failed two ODs and don't know where to buy CN or cyanide or anything similar that's guaranteed to work. I have a really strong survival instinct, so hanging or drowning or anything like that isn't an option. and I'm too dumb to figure out how to poison myself with CO.
I don't want to get a shotgun because I need something small enough to hide in my house, and something I can explain as being for self-defense if someone were to find it. I'm not ready to ctb yet, just need to make sure I have something available for if I need to get it over with quickly.

and where in my head should I aim to make sure it works? in the mouth or at one of my temples?


also, I'm really glad I found this website. I'm sick of every suicide-related website being full of false positivity and people trying to convince me life has a purpose when it doesn't, at least not for me. my life has no future; the only things keeping me alive are my dog who I can't leave alone, and my fear of failing another attempt.

According to the megathread, 9mm is at the smallest end of caliber that should be considered. That's what I'm planning to use. I'm going to aim for the medulla oblongata through the mouth. I have the same issues as you irt concealing the firearm and whatnot, so I get it.

Shotgun will make shot placement more forgiving for same reliability as handgun. But quite a bit more messy.

Not the temple. Shot placement is much more important after it is decent caliber handgun. You have some road ahead to read the whole firearms megathread. As you mentioned you are not in a hurry (great thing for the most important decision of rest of your life, pun intended), I do recommend reading the whole firearms megathread carefully.

I've been worried about the mess as I definitely don't want to traumatize my family with my brains being everywhere. my plan is to do it somewhere secluded and leave a note at my house with my location so my family can call 911 to find me instead of them.
I'll definitely need time to make sure I learn how to do it right and get the courage to really go through with it. the thought of shooting myself is just much more intimidating than just swallowing a bunch of pills

If you don't mind sharing, were you involuntarily hospitalized from those ODs? I'm asking because if you were, that might make it a little harder to get a gun depending on where you are.

Also, if you can, I'd recommend you get a pistol in a caliber with a little more of a punch like .45 acp or 10mm if you're deadset on getting a pistol. Guns are a pretty reliable method if you do it right but you want to do everything you can to ensure that you'll succeed, especially when the consequences of fucking up a headshot and surviving are so severe and nightmarish to even think about. Since you mentioned wanting to get something that you can explain for self-defense, a rifle or a shotgun might still be a good option since they're pretty common guns for self-defense.

I don't know anything about voluntary hospitalizations and it's going to depend on where you live so I recommend that you do more research on that.

As for anyone finding the gun, another possible explanation you can use would be hunting if you buy a shotgun or rifle typically used for hunting but if you don't actually hunt then that'd be kind of hard to use as a valid explanation. For what it's worth, I also live alone right now and I bought a .45 acp pistol as my exit method. Like you, I was worried about my parents finding the gun so I went with a pistol since I can keep it hidden relatively safely so long as my parents don't look through literally every single little nook and cranny in my room.

A problem I can see is how are you gonna get to this location with a gun? All it takes is someone seeing you with a gun, getting panicked and calling 911, then the police stop you from CTB'ing, probably taking away your gun then slapping you with a felony charge or some shit. That is unless they just shoot you cause they think you're an active shooter or some shit, but hey mission accomplished, right?

You don't have to tell me what you will do, but keep that in mind.

Its been a few years but when I asked my one ex who worked with guns and who collected them about what's best for CTB he recommended a magnum or a shotgun so that's what I'll stick to if I end up CTBing. I got some hunting rifles but they are too long and dont really feel comfortable using those for CTB.
