I feel the same about people who want to live until old age. People used to die younger(only rare individuals would reach old age). It's unnatural that today the average lifespan is 80 yo. It's disgusting and disturbing to me.

If people lived forever there would be a blanket ban on procreation. Many people would struggle immensely with that. If only a small portion of the the population could live forever they would soon become revered like gods and would have a monopoly on many things due to being able to prey on the naive youth. Chances are that many of them would be people who have already been doing that to create the fortune that allows them the wealth to afford the high price tag on living forever. They would no doubt 'aquire' the companies providing the service and run a monopoly on that and would definitely be considered gods at that point.

The money just takes out the stress of food, material want, healthcare and nice comforts. If you're depressed you're still depressed. To be honest I am in full support of life extension. I think everyone should be able to live for as long as they like, with an unlimited lifespan and healthspan, until they decide that they want to die. I hate ageing as a phenomenon and it's one of my personal reasons for wanting to ctb.

A Silicon Valley billionaire is paying the ultimate price for immortality: death.

Well, that, and a spare 10 grand.

Entrepreneur Sam Altman is one of 25 people who have splashed the cash to join a waiting list at Nectome – a startup that promises to upload your brain into a computer to grant you eternal life.

There's just one (huge) catch: It has to kill you first.

The process, as described in the MIT Technology Review, involves embalming your brain for it to potentially be simulated later in a computer.

The living customer would be hooked up to a machine and then pumped full of Nectome's custom embalming chemicals.

The method is "100 percent fatal," claims the company.

"The user experience will be identical to physician-assisted suicide," Nectome's co-founder Robert McIntyre revealed to the publication.

If Sam Altman wants to live forever in simulation then it's his life, as long as he supports assisted suicide then he's good billionaire.
