Discussion Misdiagnosis of Autism:Asperger from using porn/gaming

I'm very confused as to why this isn't a more discussed subject.

I believe it's easy to be mistaken for being autistic after having consumed games and porn for 10+years (from young age say 12).

I've done a check for autism since many of my friends thought I was, but the doctors said I don't have it.

I'm talking neuroplasticity and how the brain basically changes in its structure after this type of behavior. I've read that autism has to do with something about the GABA system in the brain.

Your thoughts?

I've read a lot about autism and the reason I'm sure I don't have it because you need to be born with it and I was a normal kid according to my both parents. I was social and had friends.

These two symptoms are few but they can be found in the list of symptoms for autism.

I'm curious as to why I have these symptoms though. I believe it's contributing to my suicidal fascination a lot.

I know the doctors think I may suffer from BPD or some personality disorder. I've read also that bpd can sometimes be mistaken for autism.

It's a genetic factor. It doesn't come later in life, and does not come and go. I would be hesitant to listen to diagnosis from friends.

It's hard to say because I don't know you in real life but those two things don't necessarily mean you're autistic. I would be more inclined to believe what your doctor says as they're a medical professional who has a better understanding on the signs of autism.

If you have doubts you could always go to another doctor for a second opinion.

Funny because I thought autistic people were usually described as being on the lower end of the spectrum in regards to sexual desire. There seems to be an overlap of asexuals and transgender people.

Sure, but do you agree that it's possible that porn and masturbation in young years can cause an autistic effect on the brain in the development aspect?

Where did you read that autism is connected to the gaba system if you dont mind me asking? I always associated gaba with anxiety, hence people taking benzos.
As for the porn and gaming, i think that could have an effect on the dopamine system in the brain (pleasure, reward) dopamine dysfunction is indicative in add/adhd, which does overlap with autism in many areas.

I mean if you're talking about being addicted to video games/porn to the point of being a hermit and not socially interacting with anyone from a young age then it's possible that it will impact upon your social skills. I wouldn't describe it as an autistic effect

Im afraid I don't have the source for that anymore unfortunately but I'm very sure I read it somewhere.

it's worth noting that we still don't know how exactly the brain functions although we know a lot more than we did 10 years ago.
Many receptors are known but exactly how it works are not 100% covered yet,
That's why we say like you wrote, many of the mental diseases overlap each other,

Like we know ADHD is a dopamine problem. Schizophrenia is also an issue with dopamine but on a different level,

No, non social and autistic are very different. Also, porn or gaming addiction isn't fixation. I think they just threw a word around.
