Isn't there a kind of heater which has a byproduct (maybe carbon monoxide) or something? I got the impression that there were lots of accidental deaths from this during winter, so it must be peaceful?

I'm not sure how viable of a method this is, but something is saying that you can get CO from incomplete combustion, I guess if you have a faulty heater or boiler this is possible; not sure how you engineer it deliberately, sounds a bit like CO method like charcoal.

I had a slight look into it and it seemed to be that that it would only be from faulty heaters so unless you know how to rig it it would be risky. Though I didn't spend much time looking into it so could be wrong. I did see about generators and I am actually going to go for the charcoal method

I think old (possibly also faulty) gas heaters were often the culprits in carbon monoxide deaths. I don't know how one would coax a heater to do that on purpose.

When I was doing my attempt on New Year's Eve, I had rigged my tent so the Mr. Heater was outside. The exhaust/vent was on top of the heater. So I had rigged it with a hose on top of the heater, and fed the hose into the tent where they designed it so you can put a cord through an opening. I had it set up nicely and ready to go.... Then I got caught... FML....

Argh that must of been frustrating ! I'm going to do the charcoal method and went to attempt it a week or two ago but got was seen before I could get the right levels so had to bail out going again this week

It's was. I was in the woods but apparently not far enough. The people who owned the property saw a fire and reported it. Police and fire came. I couldn't be mad at the couple who turned me in, because it was an older couple who turned out to be pretty nice.

Yes, I agree with you. yet we do not want to hurt others who act out of good intentions...
but how annoying that they will never help us to achieve bus

I think faulty heater deaths are probably carbon monoxide related. You would have to have a tightly controlled system that produced "sufficient" levels of carbon monoxide in the air to produce fatal poisoning. The interesting thing about this method is how rare reports of successful death actually are. I do know of a few cases of attempted CO poisoning where they succeeded to die. Seeing a few reports of success doesn't show me the whole picture though. What about the people who were poisoned but didn't die? Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I wonder how many people have attempted CO poisoning and were damaged for life? That is unfortunately a risk anyone attempting this method would have to take.
