I have been on medication. I have only had one appointment, and the doctor gave me carbamazepine. I really don't want to take meds because I thinks it's my only way to feel something, and I am really disconnected to myself lately due to the meds, but even without the meds I was the same. I feel no changes in myself or my body, and I am desperate for a diagnosis.

As I've gather, with most psych medication, it takes about 2 weeks for the effects to kick in, usually the side effects show up before the intended improvements. I also just started my first medication on Saturday, I'm on duloxetine rn, so it's almost a week, and no effects yet. Side effects are also hard to make a note of sometimes, especially if it's something like fatigue or brain fog, because I had those constantly way before starting meds, so Idk.

As for diagnosis, my psychiatrist said that before we alleviate the depression with meds, she can't diagnose me properly, as there's a high chance my depression will affect the diagnostic process. I don't know your case and what disorders you might have, but I think it might be for a similar reason. We just have to wait I guess.
