Meaning of death

Death is one of those things that mean different things to different people. Even for the same person, death can mean different things at different times.

So it's quite futile to attempt giving a meaning to death.

who knows anyone who says they know is just guessing at best i mean we can't even comprehend how an ant works let alone how the universe works, maybe death is the end for all time maybe it's not.

From what I seen personally most people dont want to actively live. Like they are making the most of inadequate situation they are in. They simply dont consider death as an option. They are here and they have to live so might as well just enjoy it while it lasts. (Not everyone's mind is capable of considering suicide as an alternative. they are just wired in that way). Death to them is mere uncontrollable inevitability and nothing else

It is an inevitability. I have yet to meet anyone who has lived forever.

If you are lucky enough to lead a fulfilling long life only to deteriorate to a vegetative state for the last decade of your life, wouldn't you want to know that you don't have to go through that part of your existence?

I wonder how many people could be spared suffering if suicide had been an option all along.

Yes but to some people they cant comprehend the concept of self-annihilation. They may wish death if the pain is too much but they dont see it as something they can simply opt to. In their minds death is not something that can artificially be imposed. It is something that is bestowed on them.

Most people won't even talk about dying, especially if it concerns themselves or those near to them. It's a subject they rather avoid or postpone to a later date even if there is no later left.

But why is dying a taboo subject? We will all die eventually. Societal pressure or instinct?

It depends on the culture I guess. Some cultures have very different views on death. Some even celebrate it. In the west and modern culture, death is infeasible. It is not productive or worth while to talk about it. Why would anyone who is too preoccupied with succeeding in life concern themselves with undesirable thing that they hear about but dont think it applies to them because it is just such a foreign concept to their goals and aspirations

To me my Death means me not having to ever ever suffer homelessness nor extreme pain, grief , diseases , dementia , old age , injustice , lies , heartbreak, oppression, censorship,problems and the 5000 other imo bad things in life and this world

In my opinion, absolutely everything is completely meaningless. The idea that anything has a meaning is a delusion. I do find death to be comforting, as I believe there is nothing after this. The thought of never having to experience anything ever again and being free of all suffering is a wonderful thought to me. Life is just a pointless experience that we go through for the sake of it. I belong in the eternal nothingness, I deserve so much better than an empty existence, I deserve the peace that death brings.
