Mary kills people

For those who have watched the TV Series, "Mary Kills People", is it really as fast and painless as portrayed in the show using Pentobarbitol?

If so, is there an alternative inexpensive drug that works the same way for people who can't afford it?

Never watched "Mary Kills People", but Pentobarbital is widely considered painless and reliable, hence its popularity.
An alternative could be Sodium Nitrite. It's not as reliable and painless as Nembutal, but it's still good. (PPH gives it a 7/10 for both peacefulness and reliability. Whereas Nembutal is a 10/10 for both).
