  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I was thinking that perhaps if, say, someone organised a march for the right to terminate your life, like the 60's civil rights marches here in the U.S.A., maybe people might take the topic more seriously? Of course, there's always the problem of being written off as mentally ill, but I think that could be overcome if we had at least 50 people to participate in the march, alongside a script to rebut most arguments people use. I was actually thinking about maybe doing this myself, but I'm afraid of my mom just baker acting me and besides, I doubt Miami is a big enough city to have at least 50 suicidal peeps anyway. Maybe a member here who lives alone in a larger city, like e.g. New York City, could try this grass-roots protest?

Well, maybe it is possible but I think it's very difficult for suicidal people like us to form an organization and movement so as to protest for our right to die due to our goddamn depression which barely allows us to leave our beds.

It has already been done mostly by old people imo. We should do research about that.
But honestly I'm not confident since even if it were legalised,
the rate of approval for mental illnesses would be very low, such as in Belgium.

I'm contemplating a one-woman protest shortly before my ctb, lol. I hate being around other people. People will just call me crazy, tho.

That's a good concept but I doubt it's feasible. There are many people who frown upon suicide in terms of the medical and religious communities. Even fighting the right to die at your own terms once presented with a serious mental illness ( such as cancer with physician-assisted suicide ) is questioned a lot by the majority.

A right to die should be a basic human right. I agree it is needed. Sadly, there is still a lack of acceptance. Many people have tried to challenge it, a terminally ill man in my country (the UK), lost a court case challenging the right to die. It does sound like a good idea what you want to do.

I don't think if will have strong effect. Society bring people to suicide and says "No, you can't kill yourself. You must suffer". What a joke

I think it's one of those social stigmas that will never be resolved. This stockholm syndrome type love towards life is genetically coded into the average person and anyone who disagrees will be labeled sick.
The most one can do is stop caring about what others think.

I will always call people out for their cruelty and hypocrisy in this matter. And I will always tell it like it is. Life is inherently and fundamentally predatory, therefore life is not inherently good. Many if not most people already believe that the terminally ill should not suffer needlessly and there is little purpose to prolonging their lives if they are already dying soon. The only thing we can do is fight the lie that life is"good". If people want to be a part of this perverse and masochistic, sadistic game so be it, but how dare they say that the suffering of others is good.

"Stockholm Syndrome" is a great to describe it haha :))

Yeah, I think I might protest but I don't care if people call me weak, pathetic, etc. It doesn't matter. What matters is peace from suffering.

Don't let the naysayers put you off. People have protested and participated in civil rights marches for centuries and many of them have resulted in much needed change. We should all do it in every country in the world. We should all have the right to die and nothing will ever change if we just sit like sheep and stay in our quiet corners. The more noise we make, the more people might take notice and start implementing change.
