Is anyone mailing goodbye letters to people before they CTB? I would call but I feel like it would be too difficult

I have few people who I trust and who have been accepting of my suicidal thoughts in the past. I'll let them know ahead of time, without any details, so they know what exactly happened if they lose contact with me. Though even if I don't, they'll figure it out.

Those whom I cannot trust to accept this, I'll let them figure on their own, if ever. It might be too disruptive for their lives to know, so I'll prefer to not push that information onto them.

I've thought really hard about this and I think that I will bc it's hard to leave without saying anything to family and friends. It's also a great idea bc they usually receive the letters after you CTB and it's more of a comfort for them to hear from you after you're gone.

I personally wouldn't because then if you change your mind you're screwed. I'm sending delayed emails

My partner CTB 31 days ago. He wrote his goodbye letter here, and a few days later I received in the mail a handwritten goodbye letter.

i'll probably send my ex a goodbye letter. i still remember her address.

i don't know where most of my friends live, as they're just college buddies. i'll send them a letter over text or give them a call.

i won't be sending my parents anything. it'll be too much for them.

I have thought about physically mailing letters, but one caveat that I face is that I cannot delay send it. Once I put a physical letter (in an envelope) into the mailbox and the mailman gets the mail, it gets sent and would be on it's way to the recipient(s). If there was a way to delay/cancel physical mail then, I would consider physically mailing hard copies of my note, but so far, I don't know if there is.

I have a lovely friend I've made on here that will be sending my letters out online once I've ctb... I couldn't forgive myself if I wasn't able to leave something behind for my loved ones. Even if it is painful, I hope my letters can provide them with some comfort, closure, and maybe understanding somewhere down the line. I already have a letter written out with my final wishes included for my mother that I will be placing on the table so she can find it once she finds my body. If you'd like to leave letters behind for your loved ones, I totally encourage it because it could help them get through the loss. Even if it takes a very long time to come to that point of acceptance. It's a very thoughtful and loving thing to do... Have you maybe looked into delayed e-mail messages? Or perhaps have a trusted person help you out?

Whatever you choose to do in the end, just know we are here for you and we support you.

Personally, I would not mail good bye letters. If you happen to change your mind, you will have some explaining to do for everyone you mailed a letter to.

I will be leaving written letters in sealed envelopes next to me, that way if something changes its not an oh shit moment. Also, with a letter I feel it's more personal than an email, I've written and touched the paper, you can see pauses in the ink where I've stopped to think etc.

I'm leaving a note next to me for my family. I also prepared some delayed emails with cute pics of animals, old photos and videos of myself talking, wishing them happy birthday, singing or anything that I thought they would appreciate.
