I usually test people I know with two questions that go like this:
There is this magic button... If pressed, your life would be erased - you would lose consciousness, people who know you will forget about you, all you ever did would be gone, it would be as if you had never existed, complete void.
First question: would you like to have this button with you, with the condition that you are obliged to press it until you reach 85 years old or else it will autopress itself?
Second question: if I told you that you can have it only now, this single opportunity presented to you to press it and never again, would you press it NOW?
Well, most people, after passed the shock of the confrontational question hahaha, usually answer yes to the first question if they are not religious or have the delirium of "leaving their mark" in the world.
But only few rare people answer yes to the second question. And I cannot understand why!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would say I believe that a small percentage of these who answer "no" to the second answer do so because they don't want to pass as "suiciders" or don't want to admit consciously their inner desire.
But apart from that, most people answer genuinely NO to the second question... And I kind of envy these people... Even if their lives suck, they have hope in the future...
Well, I don't understand it. I always answer yes to both questions.
How about u??
