i see more information here about partial suspension. i have a table of drops (antique these days) and i know the length of rope vs weight, my noose is tied out of one inch thick manila rope, greased the loop with bees wax so it runs through the hole easily. i am mildly concerned i'll decapitate myself if my calculations are wrong. i am wondering if decapitation will be a problem for me, or just whoever cleans up my mess. i am also curious to hear from anyone else considering this method regarding their preparations.

Why would it be a problem for you, you would be dead.

well i am aiming to break my neck with the drop, the hanging afterwards is insurance in case my neck does not break. i would rather avoid my still consious head being ripped from my body. trying to avoid too gruesome an end i guess. i've suffered enough.

Despite rumours, decapitation should be relatively painless & very quick. If you don't die instantly, I don't see why you would maintain consciousness for very long at all

Are you planning on an outlandishly long drop? Because if not, decapitation seems unlikely. It would require a lot of force.

Seems like you already have everything you need.

I've read a lot on the subject. Note that the decapitation you are speaking of is somewhat very rare and usually happen if the person is oversized or the drop is absurdly long. I don't think it will happen if you misscalculate by 1, 2 or even 3 feet.

Edit: if the mess is really bothering you, just put a tarp on the ground or something.

Also. Here's my setup. You can ask rope companies to create eyelets on one or both ends and ask them to reenforce them with metal for an extra.

Here's a picture 86
Edit: the point is that you can just pass the other end in the eyelet. That way you don't need a noose and its better than beeswax in my opinion. That's what the british were using.

well thanks for the pic. my noose only has two coils. i don't know where people got the notion that they needed thirteen coils (not to mention the coil stack being over a foot long with one inch rope) i think i'm going to get a rope with an eyelet.
