Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I've been considering long drop hanging as a potential method because it's quick and if done correctly it shouldn't be painful for very long because the neck is snapped quickly. However, I'm worried because all of the resources I've read say that it's risky and there are a lot of considerations to be made. I've read through the section in Geo Stone's book and on lostallhope, are there any other good sources of information that I should look at?

Can you jump from above the attachment point? Is it ok if you jump forwards a little or do you need to fall straight down? I'm really scared that I'll mess it up. Are there any other methods that are similarly light on resources but have less chance of failure?

Check the pinned thread on resources. I was planning on doing long drop as well but decided against it because it seems too difficult to set up and too many variables. I settled on full suspension, requires the same stuff (rope), but if you set it up so nothing breaks or snaps, death is pretty much guaranteed. If done correctly you'll pass out in 15-20 seconds
Here's an informative resource on partial and full hanging https://web.archive.org/web/20180113134153if/https://a.uguu.se/N1e53EmCSkUr_Howtohangyourself.pdf

One of the big issues with most hanging methods seems to be that everyone has a slightly different shape of neck and different pain/discomfort tolerance, and so not every method works for everyone. I wonder if decapitation by using an intentionally too-long ligature would be more likely to work with less setup?

I do not want to sound unsupportive, but Long Drop is great to talk about but really never used.
Can you set it up correctly? The forces involved are tremendous. It will break most ropes and tie-off points. It might or might not break your neck. If not, then what?
Tie the rope to a bridge railing and throw yourself over the edge. You will die.

Research the hanging threads, please. If you must pass, do it well.

There's the hangman's formula for the long drop. It's important to make sure there's both enough force to cause the neck to snap in one go so you don't suffocate and not so much force as to pop the head off.

As others have said, rope strength and structural strength are important, as well as putting the rope physically in the correct spot to snap the neck
