My friend from Canada who I met on a self harm forum successfully CTB this way, he was able to order local anaesthetic online easily and injected it. The only thing I know is it can cause horrible convulsions/heart attacks etc. it isn't a pleasant way to go at all, a feeling of panic and dread from having too much adrenaline too if the local has that in it.
I'm in the dental industry so have access to many small vials, he was able to purchase in bulk. Here in Australia it's hard to buy in bulk though.
Also there is an anecdote to local anaesthetic poisoning, according to research I've done.
