I was looking for stories about what it's REALLY like to suffocate to death and came upon this list by Ranker of 57 Terrible Ways to Die and it looks horrific and awful!

Some of them are obviously pretty gruesome but the one specifically on suffocation and another on hanging, I wondered if maybe they're written so they sound worse than they are? Do you guys have any thoughts/opinions? Some of them I felt physically ill just reading the headline and couldn't even click to read more!

For me, the most frightening way for me to die would be from old age. That is a prospect that literally terrifies me, especially if I have lost what few marbles I have left.

I'm just too scared to do it without finding a way to be completely unconscious before dying. I thought about getting super super drunk and taking some xanax and benadryl and then falling asleep on the train tracks. Like, super camouflaged. But I'm afraid I'd wake up!

Or the super drunk/xanax/benadryl method with CO2 poisoning, or partial hanging, suffocation. Like, how do you guarantee (or as close as possible) you won't wake up?

I was watching Air Force One and was like, "damn, how do I get on a hijacked flight. I'd totally sacrifice myself."

It's best to pick one method. Amitriptyline to stop your heart, a benzo to make you unconscious so you don't feel a thing. Or a benzo with SN has been recommended by some users

I got Amitriptyline via email but SN you can get on amazon I believe.

Anyone who knows what it is like to really commit to these methods is simply not here to tell you. If people knew then this endless search for the right method wouldn't exist.

So no. Nobody knows.

And before anyone goes 'oh but I attempted and survived'. No. You don't know what it will be like when done properly.

Hanging has always seemed to me to be one of the worst ways to die.

Read about gunshot to head and it says that death is virtually certain, "instant" and "virtually painless." It would be hard to describe a suicide method in more glowing terms. No mention of that face transplant that always comes up on SS.

Hanging has always seemed to me to be one of the worst ways to die.

Perhaps it depends on how it's done. I read posts here where folks try partial suspension and they report it feeling like their head is going to explode, while there are other folks (think David Carradine) who end up dead from autoerotic asphyxiation. Folks who find hanging so enjoyable that they end up dead without even trying.

Benzos you can get on the darknet, the "real", doctor-prescribed ones, or you can order research chemical ones from the clear net. There are plenty of vendors of "legal highs" still out there. I hear diclazepam is a close enough cousin to diazepam to be substituted for it.

Thanks. The only fear I have of using the Darknet is being prosecuted. I don't want to get into any legal trouble if I get caught.

Darknet vendors are very good at hiding things. People get heroin and LSD off them all the time. If you don't have a criminal record i would highly suggest to go with darknet for the known, legit pills with long history of human use. Research chems can be unpredictable or the vendor may send you something else than what you ordered.

Supposedly if you compress on the proper way (major veins, not throat), they pass out before headsplosion. Also masturbation is sometimes recommended to push away SI, so autoerotics could also be suicides, with no note it's hard to be sure.

I don't think most people know about the facial damage that occurs from failed gunshots to the head, especially with longguns. I'll say that I was completely clueless about that until I started researching suicide methods a few months ago. I did realize that these attempts might occasionally fail and brain damage might result, but I didn't know failed attempts would make you ugly too. (And successful attempts would horrify your family when they look at your dead body, if you care about that.)

Did these people say they were glad to have survived? Did they say they wished they had died? Did they openly express an opinion either way?

I did not get to talk with them. I know when I tried to leave the planet the first time( twice I tried), I ended up in a psych. hospital and met another survivor. I did ask her how she felt that she had survived. She said she was grateful to be alive and that her attempt had failed( she cut her wrists). I on the other hand, was and still am angry that I did not succeed in my attempt.
The two gunshot cases were from where I actually worked in hospital and was not a patient myself. They were not on my unit, but the unit near mine and us employees all new about their cases.

Wrist-cutting is always more of an attention-seeking thing than an actual suicide attempt, it's like the least likely method to actually succeed in ending one's life.
