It may sound outlandish compared to some of the methods discussed on here, but I'm being completely sincere. Is there a way to attract lightning and encourage it to travel through you? I considered using a bundle of helium balloons with 1000ft of copper wire attached (should weigh only 2lbs). Would that work or would it fail? Aside from the extremely low chance of being hit by lightning - you know what I mean, physics involved. With a piece of wire attached to your head, would it be lethal or not? I always liked the idea of just wandering into an open field and being struck, but if there's any way to increase that chance, I might take it, even if it looks hilarious. And if it fails, you end up with a sick looking scar.

That is brilliant! i hope it works. My grandpa was hit from a riqucette lightening bolt that hit the fence, then his horse, then him....it burned out the soles of his shoes. He woke up to a dead horse and a bad headache. He was guite a guy with at least 9 lives....3 heart attacks etc.

I thought about this multiple times, being struck by lightning sounds poetic to me, anyways, I think your idea might work, but surprisingly there are a lot of lightning survivors, so i don't know how it will turn up for you. I wish you the best, and may you find the peace you deserve

No. It is absolutely random. While it is known to strike under certain conditions, replicating them is pure chance.
Think about more productive methods.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say don't do this in case anybody stumbles across it. Being struck by lightning can cause paralysis if you live, and sometimes the paralysis is permanent.
