Yesterday I read an interesting reply in a reddit post and it made me think. Even if NDE experiences are merely hallucinations , they are profound in that no drug, nothing can replicate them entirely
Here is said reply
Ketamine simulates a lot of experiences from NDE, but not all of them. Most remarkably, the biggest difference is the awareness between being 'alive' and the awareness of being 'death'. People who have a NDE realize they died and are in some sort of afterlife experience. By the same token, people who use ketamine realized they are still alive, and therefore the experience differs from NDE. People on ketamine don't see died loved ones, while you can see loved ones who died in NDEs.
It is profound because they see dead people and have awareness of being dead

I wonder how it feels like to have awareness of being dead

Are there any drugs that can replicate it (awareness of being dead and seeing dead people) ?
the most profound thing is that how do they know they are dead?

I have read NDE experiences where people don't see their bodies , initially they think they are alive but suddenly they realize they are dead

If NDE experiences are merely hallucinations , why at least some people don't insist "No , I am not dead, I am alive"?

Literally all of them to best of my knowledge realize they are dead

Like I said in other threads already, from what I know DMT comes closest, but I only have accounts of other people to count on for that. Some of them had real NDEs before tripping on DMT and told me that.

The quotation about ketamine is correct from my own experience. I never felt dead, just dissociated from my body and decoupled from any sense of self. But somehow I was still alive, my soul was still existent, just that I could see my body laying there on the couch, decoupled from it. I don't know how to really describe it further tbh.

thank you for this reply. I wonder what it feels like to feel dead. I will search if DMT can trigger similar experiences

I wonder why NDEs are even more stronger than DMT experiences.

I really feel curious about afterlife

erowid.org might be a good resource for that. lots of accounts from people on there

idk if they are tbh. they described it as pretty similar.

As for afterlife, personally I strongly believe there is nothing like that, but who really knows haha
