Of religion and some philosophy - of the anti-choice rhetoric in society and the world, the irrational belief that life is worth it at all, despite the immense amount of suffering that life brings - the deeply rooted manifestation of the survival instinct in the conscious, intelligent thought of humans. You'd think that with the "gifts" of consciousness, sentience, intelligence, that the endless cycle of suffering would end, but nope. Desperate lies, flawed rationalization of justifying life continues it. The true end of evolution is higher beings realizing that existence is futile, meaningless suffering, and said life self destructing en-masse.

I do think that true happiness is possible, but once you've reached the above realization it becomes much more difficult. Not like the society we live in encourages being happy and fulfilled - rather long work hours at the expense of your own health to not be seen as a loser, a failure, and all the labels put on you for not agreeing with the establishment.

It's hard to do anything but just laugh, and take small amounts of solace in that it's destroying itself before our eyes.
