  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

I have to move in the next few weeks but I have no place to go. I have a job but it's only temporary. I do t want to be homeless, and I don't have anywhere to go.
I want to do something about it (I guess you call it ctb but I don't know what that stands for). Anyway I have an Advanced Health Care Directive completed so that I won't have to go on as a vegetable if I fail. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I've thought of standing in front of a train, but I don't think I have the nerve to just stand there and wait for it. I also don't know of any high places to jump from that would be high enough. Thoughts?

Ctb stands for cath the bus.

There's a resources thread with lots of info. You'll get access to the search feature after a few posts and a bit of time on the forum. Then you can search for the resources mega thread. It's on the forum somewhere so you could potentially find it without the search function. It's not often that people will suggest specific methods to others. It's a bit of a personal choice thing and not really for strangers to offer up to other strangers. We're all in a shit place so you'll get plenty simpathy but no aiding as far as ctb methods unless you're looking for advice on a specific method you already chose.

As far as standing in front of a train, it's not a great way to do it. There's the chance that you'll be maimed and bounced off the train, leaving you worse off and permanently paralysed or disabled. There's also the driver to consider as these things are tough for some to get over. When a train see someone on the tracks it will blow its horn and break. It would be particularly challenging to stand there waiting to be hit not to metnion the security issues to overcome in order to get onto the tracks in a secluded place. Easier in some places than others I guess.

Sorry to read of your bousing issues. It's amongst the worst of things to deal with so I hope you are somehow able to navigate that in a way that suits you better. Have you considered mentioning it to somebody at work or perhaps your current landlord or relevant other? There are resources for these situations depending where you live. I think if you're in the uk you can go to your local council/governing body and explain your predicament and receive support and/or housing. Not ideal but something, right?

I'm in the US. Train crossings are easy to get to here, but I wouldn't want to traumatize the engineer either so I guess that's out.
I've been renting rooms for years now, and am embarrassed to say I have no one left to ask. I suppose I could put my stuff in storage and ask to stay at a friends house, but that would be short lived and I'd have to find something else. I'm so tired of being a burden to my friends. Apartments here are expensive and I just don't earn much. I feel like a failure at life.

I'm sorry. That sounds harsh. I can relate in my own way having had a wayward youth and spending about a year homeless. I wish I could offer up something helpful.
