Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Has anyone here ever been called to jury service? I got a summons in the mail around 10-15 years ago. I called the court clerk and (truthfully) told her I suffer from anxiety and take medication for it and asked to be excused. She did it over the the phone. Then a couple of days ago, out of the blue, I started obsessing about getting another summons in the mail. It's so bad it's almost like I've already gotten the thing. Even thinking about CTB to avoid it. "Funny" how anxiety/OCD works.

I have been called twice in the past 5 years. In both cases I was excused...once because they already have enough, and once for technical reasons. If you get further there are options to say why you cannot serve.

I think you can take that off the list of things to obsess about. If your mind will allow it.

You probably won't get a summons ever again. I used to get them. I had a doctor write a note about my symptoms, memory problems etc. I've never heard from them again.

Ive been called twice. Once in 2008 for grand jury. That was annoying. For 2 weeks, you hear about these cases and decide not on guilt or innocence but if there is enough evidence for these cases to go to court on these charges. The actually cases were kind of interesting and I did enjoy seeing how the legal system works. However, there is so much dead time you spend waiting on the DA and witnesses so time moves very slowly. And this was before smart phones became what they are now. Luckily I had some good books to read. The second time was in 2018. I got called in and the docket was empty so they just sent everyone in my group home and we were good for the time being. It's a real toss up as to what happens.

I had to do it when I was 19. I was put on a jury and honestly it was kind of interesting. I was recently called again but a few days before they notified me that the case no longer needed a jury.
