Been stuck here on a section 2 since Thursday. No plan of attack, no meds given to me. Just an empty shell of a building with a few meal times to look forward to a day. An absolute haven for my overthinking mind 🤯😭

How they think this will benefit my situation i'll never know.

The real annoyance here is that a fellow inmate jumped the fence 2 days ago and as a result were pretty much on lookidown. I dont think the skin on my wrists will last much longer!!

It's not worth the risk. They'll just hold you longer and hold back any leave longer. I know wards aren't fun but you can do it, then when you get out you can do what you need. It's only a section 2, it could be worse, they let me out before the 28 days was up. Jumping in front of traffic is not a good idea!

Wow, that is nonsense, where do you live? I don't understand, why hold you there if you're not taking any medication? That's the whole purpose, so they can see how it's working, no? I'm sorry you're having a bad day… you have us, though… we're here for you! ❤️

I'm no expert at cars, but it sounds like the psych ward is in or near the city, and cars don't drive extremely fast there, which means that you may only get hurt if you are hit by one of those cars.

If you really need to end your life, and don't have access to any other resources, hanging or the night-night method would probably suit you better. Of course, it would be great if your life hadn't come to this, but I don't blame you, and life is just what it is

Excatly. Thats my frustration comes from!! I'm due another consultation soon then we'll see. Yada Yada same old BS.

Personally i think they are just going to use every trick in the book to incarcerate me here for the full 28 days!!

I'm in Sussex and believe it or not right by a main road where cars often hit 40+ .... ive been watching them from my window. Lorries too!!

I can lurk in the bush and dart across super quick. Too quick for their response time!!

The idea of these holds is usually harm-reduction first. So they'll section you if they believe you are in a crisis that could be life threatening to yourself or others.

Treatment isn't necessarily the goal. Especially not if the hold is for just a few days or two weeks. It all depends on the illness and situation.

Someone with an active psychotic episode could be held and they would likely try and start medication, since those can work fairly quickly and improve the situation rather drastically.

Someone with depression and going through a suicidal phase may just get a few benzoes (if they are lucky), but medications can take weeks to kick in (if they work at all), so patients are often just referred to their GP after release to figure things out once the "crisis" has passed.

I am sorry you are in this situation @notlongnow
Not sure what brought you there, but as other people have said: try to just follow the rules. Comply with whatever they tell you to do. Don't jump the fence and make it worse and then see where you are at when they let you leave.
After the weekend you should be able to see a psychiatrist for an assessment. The lockdown will likely be lifted once the unit is fully staffed during the regular work week. That should make things a bit easier for you too. At least being able to go for a coffee.
Best wishes!

I know it'll be hard considering you're suffering now, but in your next consult, really play up the sob story… don't act angry nor hostile (I know, easier said than done).

Be as kind as you can. Of course you are the victim in this situation, on so many levels. That being said, while you're there, you have to play their game. They're only human, and they're so desensitized to mentally ill people, that they pretty much have no empathy left. They'll then mistreat you due to your "rebellion".

If you seem to be complying, by human nature, they'll be more inclined to accommodate your requests… I'd at least try it. Try to play by their rules, and hopefully you'll get some meds, and a discharge note ❤️

It's crazy how different mental healthcare can be. Where I am, a GP wouldn't give out meds like that, only a psychiatrist. Any approach kinda sucks, imo

How do you have internet access from where you are

On their main WiFi its restricted. No social media, limited websites, mosty used for streaming entertainment.

I switch to my network provider for the restricted stuff. Good old 4G 👌🏻

Psych wards are made to be efficient, not necessarily to help people. The help you get is maybe getting a break from the outside, getting lucky with a counselor, or being put on medication that works for you. If their routine hurts you then tough shit. If being confined hurts you then tough shit. If the medication doesn't help then tough shit. /not something I think is fair I'm just making a point

Yes absolutely!
I have experienced different systems in different countries and there are extremely big differences in how (what kind of) treatment is provided.

Especially the UK/CAN systems are simply not set up for treatment. They are not funded appropriately and only function as "crisis hold".

European countries with better healthcare systems often provide much more treatment in a much more patient-centred environment.
Comparable to private clinics in the US with individual and group therapy, trying to find the best medication, teaching patients coping and relaxation techniques, even offering 2x massages/week for stress relief. But all covered by public healthcare.

It's a night and day difference.

Just make sure you find the largest lowest vehicle moving the fastest, if you hang around the side of the road, traffic is bound to slow. It would be hell to go through all of that and just get bounced around in traffic and not actually make it to ctb. Good luck!

Whoa… massages?! I've never heard of that being prescribed! That's definitely a bonus. I still think mental healthcare is useless for most, not saying All. It's sad how mentally ill people are still treated, the stigma will never go away.

i highly recommend waiting it out and trying another method, you could very well get severely injured and not die and then get institutionalized again. you could also cause an accident for someone else and get sued.

You can't get any sleep. At the psych ward they open your door every 15 minutes 24 hours a day to check on you.

Fuck it. Fench jumped!! Now technically on the run.

Haven't a clue on my next move, just enjoying a well earned pint for now.

Trainlines or roads are my two close options! Both scare the shit out of me tbh. I might have not thought this through well enough.

That damn place took the remaining bit of soul out of me though!! 😭

Pint enjoyed. Tactically avoided the train station, tried the bus and you guessed it i bumped in to my ward night nurse. Headfuck. You couldn't write it!!

Left the bus quickly. Risked the train. Made it to destination, copious amounts of coke obtained. Going to rail it all till i can't breath or my heart fucktion fails. Risky method but more enjoyable than the other extremes I mentioned!!

Peace to all. I think tonight is the night - don pablo escobar sponsored ❤🙏🏻

Dumbest shit I ever did. 😆

72 hour party people then got nabbed by the cops. Taken back to the hospital. Changed wards. Higher security. I'm gonna have to sit tight and ride this bs out. Near the end of my stay i'll purchase SN and hope it arrives soon after my discharge. Its all I can do!
