Is jumping of the 8th floor efficient enough? I didnt find a thread about jumping, what do you know about it?

I'm afraid it could not be sufficient. 300 feet is generally accepted as a minimal height.

Assuming that each floor is 3 meters high, 3*8=24 meters, definitely not enought if you wish a effective and safe way to ctb.

Somebody once told me that:
7 story results in death 50%
12 story results in death 99.8%

They also mentioned:
The people who survive falls over 10 stories all landed on soft surfaces. Concrete is probably closer to 100%.

You'll need to keep your eyes open and dive towards it. It will take a lot of courage, and my choice would be 2mg alprazolam or 4-8mg klonopin taken 1 hour before attempt.

From 12 stories, you will have a 0.02% chance of surviving a fall, but if you look at just the soft landing data entries, they look to be closer to 50%. I only counted five dirt landing points and 3 died and 2 survived.

I once read about a woman who jumped from her second floor window and died... some people have all the luck.

Is it actually possible to control how you land?
Supposedly it is. In the documentary The Bridge (about jumpers on the Golden Gate Bridge) at least one survivor mentioned that he changed his mind after he jumped and while falling changed his positioning so he would land feet first instead of head first. All the jumpers who landed head first in the water passed, but since he landed feet first he survived, but now he's in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

I think it is. When high diving, people are usually able to change their position before landing in the water. I'm assuming it would be the same when jumping from a building.

Unlikely though, but people die in unlikely ways everyday.. there's this joke-
Whats the difference between a person jumping of the 15th floor vs the 2nd floor?
15th floor person goes: AHHHHHHHHHH thump
2nd floor goes: thump AHHHHHHHHHH

Shit, problem was the adrenalin.

It depends on several factors, you can definitely move while falling but not always control the way you land.

The 50% failed ones died cause they jumped wrong(and due to that landed on their stomach/legs) or because its nearly impossible to aim your head down at 7th floor?

I'm not sure. The person who handed me this information did not mention why they failed.

Certainly people have died jumping from the 8th floor, but there is still a "decent" chance at survival. You can't really control how you land to guarantee that your head makes the first contact. I think the Lost All Hope site recommends at least 10-15 floors, depending on the height of each floor.

I live on the 8th floor — annoyed with myself for not choosing higher when I moved.

The 3rd or 4th floor is about 50/50. The 8th floor is about 90%. 150 feet (10-15 floors) is 95-98% fatal.

Anyway, my dad's brother died in a fall from just the 3rd floor. He was 17 and drunk and attempted a jump from the balcony into the pool. Somewhat needless to say, he missed the pool.

It's not known for sure if he died right away, but at least he was unconscious right away.

It's better that he ended up dead than as a quadriplegic, but it's hard to be happy about this occurrence. It would have been best if he had survived and eventually made a full recovery.
