Lol yeah but it's too late wish my parents had the funds and resources and knowledge to put me in dance at a young age
Why do you say it's too late? Do you only want to pursue some types of dance you've mentioned here or would any make you happy?
In high school I discovered Hatsune Miku's World Is Mine and became obsessed with learning her dance, but I never shared my love for anime/vocaloids/Japanese culture with my family so it was only something I'd do when alone. I pursued it the first few years in college enough that I've mostly got her dance down, although I'm rusty and not perfect since I'm self-taught. I also periodically get obsessed with odorite, I still love watching certain dances but they usually have groups so I could never truly do that as I desired since I don't have irl friends, or else friends interested in dance (even hypothetically I got shot down by others). This type of dancing is mostly something I do by myself and for myself so it doesn't matter if I "know how to dance" par say, it's for my own enjoyment. I've only ever danced like this once in an anime convention I went to alone. In some ways I think unless you physically can't pursue it, it's still possible. Not having energy and being drained from mental issues can make it hard, but it doesn't mean it's completely impossible.
I know you always mention belly dancing but there are many types of dancing out there and some are much easier. My mother liked to do line dances and she'll go out to dance at bars and there's the whole spectrum of people dancing from young to elderly. They'll have teachers teach certain dances and again there are a wide mix of people trying to learn. I know since I've been forced to some such events, and I can't dance very well but some line dances are so simple even I can get them. For many types of dances there are lots of online resources to learn from, or even just you can try learning from videos of others dancing. It seems you like how dancing could bring attention, but would you gain anything from dancing on your own and doing it just for yourself? My sister is probably the best dancer I know (she does line dancing too, and a few others) and she's self taught for the most part, she just found instructional videos online. She always looks beautiful to me when she's dancing since she just puts her all in to it when she goes out on the floor or practices, and she did put in enough practice on her own that she can be confident when out there.
Even if I perfect an odorite's dance, it won't make me want to keep living as things are really, but even at the point I'm at I don't see it as too late for that. Most skill in dancing does come from practice from what I've seen, and then the practice can probably build the confidence and joy we see.
On a separate note, still hoping to find others to learn and preform this dance with me...
