I once looked up old 'friends' from childhood and they barely remembered who I even was. I have vivid memories of my time with them. I guess they lived and formed new more important memories. I didn't.

Same thing happened to me. Three years of talking every day three times a day on the phone with professions of everlasting love. We somehow assume a level of trust. And now we can look back and wonder what the hell we were thinking… I can't imagine I will ever fall in love again… But if I did I don't think I'm ever going to trust anybody… We feel violated…

Could also be that she just isolates herself from everyone completely. Some people do stuff like that (me included).
Can be a phase. Can be forever. Maybe one day she crawls back to you. Maybe she will look for new people.

I'm going through this right now. Someone I reconnected with in June was attentive, (seemed) interested in our reconnection and getting to know each other again and talked about future plans to meet, we texted and spoke on the phone often. Then suddenly, he became distant and cool and I heard from him less often and then about 10 days ago he just quit communication completely. I don't know what I did or what happened. I can only assume I turned out to be disappointing to him in some way, or all my health issues scared him away. I just don't know. But everyone always leaves anyway so I suppose it's better this way, sooner than later... Still hurts so much though.
