Just imagine the hypothesis: Someone wants genuinely to die. For a long time just (like me for a decade). We live in so-called free societies how should we take our right to choose death without any method knowledge? The journalists act like we should all go to prison for searching a peaceful way to die. In almost every country N is restricted. In my country you could go to prison if you try to purchase it. They want to make SN illegal in every country. So that people who want to die with sincere heart have to take brutal methods. Methods without dignity, with pain, traumatizing other people for example when they find their body.
It is a joke. In society the weak do not count. I find that is also the case in Europe where I live. But in the US health care is not even free. Now they take the weak and even force them their will. If assisted suicide is illegal the people are often forced if they are law-abiding to live on till they die a natural death. This is the case if they are too scared to end up as a vegetable. And this danger really exist.
In my country it is a joke. The former health secretary despised poor people. He lives in a villa which costed several millionen euros and tells with welfare you get everything you need. It would be a lot of money. This dude who does not give a fuck about the weak was one of the main reasons why my country did not get a new assisted sucide law. Many people in extreme pain begged his ministery for N. He rejected ALL of them. (I am glad his career is now probably over. Due to corruption scandals etc.)
Then they portray us as the evil folks because we want to escape this pain without even more pain at the end. They have no solution for some people and this is just the truth. Some people really want to die, some people don't want to hang on after decades of treatment resistance- Two therapists already have given up on me. If I told my current therapist the truth about my most inner feelings he would leave me too. This society is extremely cruel to suicidal people. WIth portraying and stigmatizing suicidal people as evil and lock them in psych wards. This will not solv the problem. I experienced it. Religious therapists and staff treated me like insane. I asked my therapist if she thinks people who ctb end up in hell. She agreed on it.
With shaming us and criminalizing us, with writing leading articles in newspapers, one-sided and no compassion for people who really want to die they want to stop suicides. Suicide existed a long time before SS and it will continue to exist. At the end I am convined most liberal (secular) countries will get assisted suicides. When medicine can extend life-spans a lot we will have a discussion not only about the length of live. No it will also be a discussion about quality. We help animals to end the suffering but humans should suffer for decades due to arbitrary laws.

We make the decision to end animals' lives without asking them for their consent. We make the decision to keep every person alive and "a productive member of society" without their consent. It seems like the only thing society as a whole is good for is to coerce others for it's own benefit of course, without consent. I'm just a replaceable cog in a great useless machine and I'm only valuable to others because 'I turn'. It's strange that I didn't choose to be born, but I can choose to die. I don't know if one really makes up for the other though. I guess it's comforting to know that that the choice to CTB will be my choice when most of my life was running around doing stuff others told me I had to or ought to do.
