Seems to have a pretty high success rate, I wouldn't call it bad.

How high? I imagine surviving it would be horrible (even if briefly).
From what I've read it seems like 80-90% success rate, but it really depends on the method of what you're aiming for (getting your body run over completely or just decapitation). This isn't my chosen method so you should do some research into it if this is what you want to do.

that is indeed very true. it would be very horrible indeed.

and keep in mind they have all sorts of brakes and stuff; they do will everything they can to hit the brakes as soon as they can. that could lead to you being halfway injured, and that could very easily lead to severe disability long-term, and a lot of blood & pain short-term; so yeah, pretty horrible.

I've been thinking about this a lot. I think the highest success rate would be if I laid my head down on the tracks to either have the wheels crush it or run over my neck decapitating me. I'm just super scared of the pain. What if I remain conscious even for a couple seconds? That would be agonizing. Hopefully the shock will kick in though and I won't really know what would have happened. If I'm unlucky the guard would push me out of the way but the force from that should still be more than enough to kill me.

friendly reminder that decapitated heads hace enough blood flow to keep consciousness going for a good 20sec. maybe less/more. and once a the name of a guillotine victim was called out, and the eyes on his severed head shot open.

internet people can tell you not to worry but this is certainly something you do not want to discover firsthand.

If I'm unlucky the guard would push me out of the way but the force from that should still be more than enough to kill me.
that would still be horribly painful, though. you might just get severe injuries and have to feel what that is like. i would not want you to experience something horrific like that <3

trains are not careful and precise things—things can go very very wrong very very easily.

no matter what internet people say, what i have noted here is still a very real possibility. even if someone thinks there is a "100%" or "90%" chance. that 10% would be horrific indeed. that means for every 10 people 1 endure the horrors described. it is possible to be that tenth person, even if one continously tells themself they will not be. it is honest to note this. thank you for reading.

There are other ways.. ctb by train can leave you horribly amputated or maimed and still suffer before succumbing to your death. And the SI is super strong.

I work in the industry. I've never seen an unsuccessful attempt. Train crews are shaken but recover.
All methods have risks of course.

i don't think it's fair to the train driver to implicate them in your death, so from a moral standpoint i would say not a good method

Besides, as mentioned by other people here, obviously traumatising the pilot, there's a good chance that, if the train is for person transportation and not freight, you'll traumatise the passengers on board. So look up the local public transportation lines and avoid those trains.

I wish autonomous freight trains were a thing where I live

Looking from a success rate standpoint, it looks pretty lethal yes. I'd do it.

From a moral standpoint, most people have no moral compass, so I'd argue the concern about traumatizing people is not quite relevant.

Yeah I never understood why people treat these train drivers like some endangered species or something. Like if someone is seriously considering train as their method, it's safe to assume they are very desperate for a quick and effective way out no matter what and not bothered with the feelings of other people. I feel like whenever the train method is brought up there are always people trying to talk it down from their own ethical standards and putting shade on the one considering it as the method of their choice.

This is my method and honestly the instantaneous nature of it, high success rate and ease of access is what sealed the deal

People have been consistently horrible to me.

Even those who were meant to help me.

Id push the moral weight on those people. They did this.

The amount of suffering the train driver will have to endure from my death is probably 1-5% the amount of suffering I have, do and or will endure and he's lucky enough to have a life ahead of him where he still likely gets to be happy.

It's not even his fault, he couldn't stop the train. If he blames himself that's irrational, anyone in his place would've experienced the same fate plus it's part of what you sign up for when you take the job you know that small risk is always there.

As for the passengers, I'm not a huge fan of human beings as a whole. Theyll be fine, they'll just remember it as a really messed up day.

Maybe that's cold and selfish, but I just want out and I don't see jumping in front of a train acting like a mass shooter or something the harm isnt something I want to produce but the lack of legality around suicide and the denial of euthanasia is also to blame.

I guess yes, it has a rather high success but if it doesnt work then your really fucked, probably wont be able to use your body again. But also your really traumatizing the conductor and passengers... And thats just absolutely not worth it especially considering there are alternatives where you dont do that.

I consider train perfectly fine method. People always say about percentage who fail, but imagine everything that can be fucked up. Have you seen indian just laying on the passenger platform imagining who knows what, and getting twisted between platform and train? And despite dumb mistakes still most of them die.

As other's have stated, it's not the best. If you fail, you end up injured, amputated, or completely disabled. On a moral standpoint, if you succeed, you may have given the train driver PTSD, as I'm sure running over someone was not in his daily agenda lol.

That website lost all hope or beyond all hope has a good discussion of this.

I did try this, well I tried to try it. I could't bring myself to do it.

Certainly not painless, not likely to be instant death either. And yes, trauma to the train driver and possibly passengers as well.

(The website goes off line from time to time. People want it taken down believing it promotes suicide, but I actually think it does the opposite. It provides detailed evidence on all the methods and their lethality, showing that it's bloody difficult to do unfortunately).

I can only imagine that laying the neck down on one of the rails is the most surefire way for an instant death.

And as far as traumatizing any employees or passengers, I say oh well. They're just going to have to accept the reality of this life.

It certainly doesn't seem like a bad method, you know pretty high success rate and all that but I personally wouldn't choose it because of the slight chance you do survive, your body is going to be in a much worse condition than a failed attempt of most other methods and to me it seems very painful, like I'm sure it is pretty quick but I'd imagine you would still feel something and it would probably be pretty intense and that scares me

Can anyone explain why you go for decapitation rather than having your skull crushed? I imagine the latter would be instant death, with no need to worry about a few seconds of consciousness remaining.

It's really bad simply because it involves other people. The train operator might be scarred for life, the onlookers too.
Please don't ruin other people's lives.
